Patrons on board the Millbrae bound train reported that a male suspect was on board acting erratically, holding a large knife. The suspect was described as a white male in his 40's, with a buzz haircut, wearing a gray jacket with silver stripes on the sleeves. The suspect off-boarded at Orinda Station. Officers, along with Orinda PD responded and detained the man on the platform. No complainants came forward, but officers determined that the man was intoxicated in public. A kitchen knife was found on top of a fire cabinet near the suspect. The man was arrested for public intoxication and was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.

 Robbery/Assault with Deadly Weapon (Prohibition Order)

Bliss Avenue Park & Ride - 1609-0802

Pittsburg PD reported that they had a suspect in custody for a robbery that occurred at the Bliss Avenue Park & Ride, about 1630 hours. Officers responded and learned that a male victim had been working on his car in the lot, when a suspect approached him and demanded his flashlight, while brandishing a large metal fence post as a weapon. The victim gave the suspect his flashlight, but the suspect picked up the victim's screwdriver and attempted to stab the victim. The victim evaded the blow and fled, eventually gaining safety in his car. The victim drove off, with the suspect chasing him on foot. Pittsburg PD detained the suspect at a nearby fast food restaurant and notified BART PD. The victim was not injured. The suspect was arrested for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. He was issued a prohibition order and was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. TSOC notified.

A victim reported he was in a verbal altercation with another male at the station, when the male brandished a knife and threatened to harm him. The suspect was reported to be accompanied by another male who was also armed with a knife. The two suspects attempted to flee the station, via train. Trains were held out until officers arrived. Once sufficient officers arrived at the station, officers searched the platform and located the primary suspect. The male was detained and positively identified by the victim. The knife was not located and the second alleged suspect was determined not to be involved. Train service was delayed. The male was placed under arrest for brandishing a weapon, delaying a transit system and was issued a prohibition order. The male was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.

Suspicious Circumstances/Recovered Firearm

Hayward - 1608-1569

Dispatch received a call from Hayward PD regarding reports of shots fired near the Hayward BART Station. At the time of the report, three BART officers were in the bus zone and they did not hear any shots, but they did see two juveniles run into the station. Trains were held out while they contacted the two on the platform. The officers did not locate a weapon on the juveniles, but a .22 caliber revolver was located in a bag on the platform. Since a crime/shooting was never substantiated and the juveniles were not seen in possession of the gun, they were identified and released to their parents. The gun was kept for safe keeping/evidence and station video will be requested. TSOC was notified of the firearm recovery TSA-08-024921-16.

 Robbery/Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Attempted Murder

Fremont - 1608-1547

Multiple reports were received from patrons on board the Fremont bound train approaching Fremont Station, of a fight and possible stabbing on board. The suspect was described as a black male, about 50 years old, balding, wearing a black tank top. The suspect was reportedly armed with a knife or screwdriver. When the train arrived at the station, the altercation continued. Two male patrons attempted to restrain the suspect, but were unsuccessful. The suspect fled to the street level and robbed a patron of his bicycle at knife point. The suspect rode away southbound, but was detained by Fremont PD officers who responded to assist. The suspect discarded his weapon, but it was located by other Fremont officers. Two male patrons suffered stab wounds to the head and were transported to the hospital for treatment. The investigation determined that the suspect robbed the two men on the train, after stabbing them with a screwdriver. The victims' property was recovered from the suspect. The suspect was ultimately arrested, and after being medically cleared, was booked on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and three counts of robbery. The incident train was held at the station for about one hour for crime scene processing. TSOC notified.

Officers responded to the station regarding the report of a stabbing victim on the platform. On their arrival, officers found the male victim suffering from several apparent stab wounds. Paramedics arrived a short time later and transported the victim to a hospital where, as of this writing, his condition is described as critical, but stable. At this point, it appears three (unknown) Hispanic male suspects were involved in the stabbing. A detective, video recovery officer and crime scene techs responded to assist. Two sergeants responded as well in order to supervise the initial investigation. As a result of this incident, train service was affected for nearly two hours. TSOC notified. L10/L22

An officer on-viewed a verbal disturbance between the suspect and the victim in the free area of the station. The officer intervened and the victim advised the officer that the suspect had just brandished a knife. The officer detained the suspect in handcuffs with the assistance of a citizen. The suspect was searched and a knife was located in the suspect's front waistband. The suspect was also determined to be intoxicated. The victim stated that his wife had advised him that the suspect had made rude comments to her as she waited in the passenger pick up area of the station. The victim asked the suspect why he was harassing his wife and the suspect became verbally hostile and pulled a knife on the victim. The suspect was placed under arrest pursuant to a citizen's arrest. A records check revealed that the suspect was on probation for auto theft and had an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license held by ACSO. The suspect was eventually transported the Martinez jail on the above listed charges. The suspect was also issued a prohibition order.

Negligent Discharge Of A Firearm

El Cerrito Plaza - 1608-0537

Officers responded to the station on the report of a black male firing a handgun possibly at another male. Officers unsuccessfully searched the surrounding area for both subjects, who were last seen on-foot and fleeing west bound from the station. A search of the surrounding neighborhood for structures and/or vehicles potentially damaged by gunfire also ended with negative results. A witness indicated the suspect fired the handgun while standing in the east access road, near the primary concourse area of the station; and where officers subsequently located a single bullet casing. The suspect was further described as 20-30 years of age; wearing a gray top and blue jeans. There was no further description for the second male. El Cerrito Police Officers were notified of the shooting. Officers requested station video, and TSOC was notified.

A sergeant and officers responded to the station regarding a stabbing near the station agent’s booth, which the male victim reported to San Bruno Police officers who subsequently arrested the male suspect. The victim, who sustained a non-life-threatening laceration to his arm, was transported to a hospital for further medical attention while BART officers took custody of the suspect. An independent witness reported seeing the victim and the suspect involved in a verbal dispute before the stabbing occurred. A detective responded to interview the suspect, and an evidence technician arrived to process the scene; the knife apparently used in the attack was recovered as well. The suspect was eventually booked into the San Mateo County jail for assault with a deadly weapon and issued a prohibition order. Station video was requested, and TSOC was notified.

Officers responded to the station on a report of a suspect armed with a knife. The suspect was described as a black male, 20's, short dreads, wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans. Updated information was received that the suspect was being held down by citizens prior to the officers' arrival. When officer's arrived, the suspect had already fled the area, however, citizens recovered the suspect's knife. The victim, who is hearing impaired, told officers that as he was exiting the station via the walkway, the suspect jumped in front of him, displayed the knife, and made stabbing motions towards him. The victim was able to throw the suspect to the ground. The suspect eventually fled the scene and left the knife behind. The victim was not injured and said that he can identify the suspect. The victim said that he has seen the suspect at the station on several previous occasions. Station video will be requested.

A sergeant encountered a male suspect chasing another male while swinging a knife at the victim. The sergeant drew his firearm and ordered the suspect to drop the knife and get on the ground. The suspect complied and was taken into custody without incident. The victim did not wish police assistance and left the area. The suspect was issued a prohibition order and booked into the San Francisco County Jail for brandishing a weapon, possession of a dirk/dagger and for multiple infraction warrants.

San Francisco Bound Train between Fruitvale and Lake Merritt Stations - 1606-1602

A victim reported that she was seated next to a female (BF, 50s, short hair, dressed in all yellow) on a San Francisco bound train. She heard the female suspect mutter something like "give me your phone," but she ignored the suspect. A few minutes later, she noticed that the suspect was holding a folding pocket knife close to her, but the suspect did not say anything or motion towards the victim. The victim believed that the suspect was trying to get her to give up her phone, but she kept her phone and went to another car to report the crime. Officers checked the train at the Embarcadero Station, but the suspect was not located. The victim was not injured. Train/Station video will be requested.

The station agent reported that a male suspect was acting strangely, dancing and waving a knife around. Officers responded and detained the man, who initially refused to cooperate. The man was taken into custody and was found to be intoxicated in public. Although the knife was recovered, there were no victims willing to press charges. The man was booked at Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Negligent Discharge of a Firearm

San Leandro - 1606-0724

Officers responded to the station on a report from the station agent of hearing possible gunshots or fireworks. Additional information also came in of subjects possibly shooting from, or at, a vehicle. An officer located one expended shell casing in the taxi zone of the station. According to witnesses, a black male, described as 5'11", fit, 200 lbs., wearing a dark gray hoodie and blue jeans, exited a silver 4dr car and fired one round from a black handgun into the ground. The suspect ran from the station on foot and the vehicle drove off. It appears that the suspect may have negligently discharged his firearm into the ground as he was exiting the car. There were no victims located and area hospitals were notified in the event a shooting victim surfaced. TSOC was notified.

BART PD and SFPD officers responded to the station on a report of a person who was bleeding from the mouth and was brandishing a weapon. On arrival officers met with the station agent who reported that he had gone to check on the welfare of the suspect who was on the platform bleeding from the mouth, but the suspect became aggressive towards the agent and brandished a box cutter in a threatening manner. The suspect then stuck the agent with the suspect's elbow. The station agent was not injured. SFPD detained the suspect and BART officers arrested and booked the suspect for brandishing a weapon and battery on a transit employee. The suspect was issued a prohibition order. OCC notified.

A victim said that he was in a dispute with two suspects (who are somewhat known to him, but he doesn't know their names) over his bike. One of the suspects (#1 HM/WM, 5'3", early 20s, red/orange windbreaker, white jeans) pulled a knife from his side and threatened to stab the victim if he didn't give the suspects the bike. Suspect #2 (HM/WM, early 20s, black clothing) took the bike and the victim's backpack and the two suspects fled out of the station. Officers were not able to locate the suspects. The victim was not injured. Station video will be requested.

Lake Merritt - 1606-0255

A patron reported witnessing two males beat up and shoot a male victim on the Richmond bound train at the station. The suspects (#1 BM, black hoodie, black jeans, #2 BM, red hoodie, black jeans with braids and a beard) fled from the train into the station, while the victim stayed on the train. An officer intercepted the train at the Fruitvale Station and located the victim. Other officers searched the area around Lake Merritt, but the suspects were not located. The victim said that he was asleep and was awakened by the suspects. Suspect #1 was holding a handgun to his chest and they demanded the victim's property. The victim tried to fight back and was pistol whipped in the face, causing a 1/2 inch laceration to his eye area. The suspect also shot him in the abdomen with the gun (which turned out to be a BB gun). The victim had multiple layers of clothing, so there was no injury as a result of being shot with the BB gun, but he was transported for treatment for his facial injury. The suspects were able to take the victim's phone. Officers were not able to track the phone. Station and train car video will be requested.

Shortly after they arrived, they were flagged down by the victim, who reported that the suspect, who also brandished a gun, had just gotten into a taxi and was leaving the station. Officers stopped the taxi, and detained the male passenger. A replica firearm and a knife were found on the man's person. Pittsburg PD also responded to assist. The victim made a positive identification of the suspect and performed a citizen's arrest. The suspect was ultimately booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for brandishing a knife and a replica firearm. The suspect was issued a prohibition order prior to booking. TSOC notified.

Officers responded to the station on a report of an armed man who had run to the platform. On arrival, officers determined that a security guard had chased an armed robbery suspect to the station from a nearby store and El Cerrito PD officers were already on scene. The suspect was located on the platform and a replica firearm was recovered along with a knife. The suspect was arrested by El Cerrito PD. Trains were delayed for several minutes during the search for the suspect. TSOC notified TSA-05-14684-16.

An adult female was involved in a verbal dispute with two juveniles who were obstructing the platform stairs at the station. During the dispute, one of the juveniles sprayed the victim with pepper spray and then both juveniles fled on foot from the station. The victim was not injured, but was transported to UCSF hospital for treatment for exposure to pepper spray.

A station agent who witnessed an assault on another station agent on 5/25 called to report that the suspect was entering the station. Officers detained the male suspect and the witness agent identified him as the same person who jabbed at another station agent with a box cutter on 5/25 at 0910 hours. The victim agent was not injured as a result of the assault. The original report was made on 5/25, but the suspect managed to elude capture until today. The suspect was interviewed before being issued a prohibition order. The box cutter was recovered from the suspect. While being booked at the Glenn Dyer Jail for assault on an agent with a deadly weapon, the suspect made statements requiring a psychiatric evaluation, so he was transported to John George Pavilion on a psychiatric hold with a hold for the criminal charge.

The male suspect was issued a prohibition order and booked into the Santa Rita Jail for brandishing a knife and a probation violation.
