An adult male was held for psychiatric evaluation after he reported hearing voices and threatened to stab himself in the heart. The subject, who said he had a razor in his possession and attempted suicide in the past, was taken into custody without incident.
An off-duty BPD sergeant was riding as a passenger in a relative's car when he observed a passenger in the rear seat of another automobile displaying what appeared to be a handgun. The sergeant notified San Leandro PD via 911 as they followed the suspect vehicle into the San Leandro city limits. San Leandro PD units intercepted the vehicle at 148th and Bancroft Avenues and initiated a felony car stop. A replica handgun was recovered and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
An adult male reported that he was in the passenger pick-up zone when an adult male approached him and asked him for the time. The subject eventually brandished a handgun from beneath his jacket and demanded money. The victim stated that he began yelling at the suspect who fled on foot towards San Leandro Street. An extensive search for the suspect proved negative.
A pat search on a male fare evader revealed a handgun in the subject's waistband. The suspect fled the station, but was caught by officers after a brief foot pursuit. The subject was arrested and booked for possession of a replica handgun and resisting arrest. 0902-2627 L12.
Officers responded to a report of a robbery in which a purse and an iPod were stolen. The suspects were described as three male juveniles and one female juvenile. One of the male juveniles was reportedly armed with a handgun. The suspects were last seen fleeing the scene on a bus.
An adult-male patron reported that two men, one armed with a shotgun and one carrying a pistol, had brandished their firearms in the bus zone. Responding officers took both suspects into custody nearby. One loaded, sawed-off shotgun was recovered. One suspect was arrested for possession of an illegal, concealed and loaded firearm. The other was arrested for public intoxication. Both were to be booked into Dyer Jail.
Oakland and BART police determined that a robbery and homicide that happened 20 minutes earlier occurred in the station-parking lot near the garage. Two 18-year-old men had robbed a 23-year-old man of his property. One suspect wielded a knife and the other claimed to have a gun. The robbery victim got control of the knife and, in an apparent act of self defense, stabbed one of the robbers, who later died. The second suspect was arrested for robbery and murder.
A BART officer assisted Hayward Police on a search for an armed assault with a deadly weapon suspect. The officer found the male suspect hiding outside a residence, took him into custody, and recovered a loaded magazine clip. The suspect was turned over to Hayward Police. 0902-0059 L12.
A female patron was at her vehicle in the south parking lot near Walnut Avenue when she was confronted by a male who brandished a handgun. The male took female's car keys, and drove away in her vehicle. The victim was not harmed. Officers responded, but were unable to locate the suspect or vehicle. 0912-1963 L12.
BART PD units assisted in the area search for a male juvenile involved in the discharge of a firearm at an automobile. One suspect, a juvenile, was apprehended with a gun in his possession by the Oakland Police.
Officers responded to Fruitvale Station in response to a report of a man with a small child being chased by two other males. It was later determined that the subject was being chased by two males who tried to take his bicycle and also assaulted him with a knife. The victim was able to point out one of the suspects to BPD officers who took him into custody and turned him over to the Oakland Police.
BPD units happened upon a shooting victim in the middle of the street at 15th and Broadway. BPD units assisted in traffic control and securing the scene while Oakland PD tended to the victim. The victim was shot three times in and about his front waist during an argument/fight with two males.
A physical altercation between two adult males led to one of the combatants being shot in the face by the other. The fight and shooting occurred on "B" Street with the shooter fleeing on foot with an accomplice. BPD units assisted with scene protection and maintaining a perimeter for Hayward PD as they searched for the suspects in and about Sunset High School where they were believed to have been seen.
A male juvenile was approached by a male in his 20's while on board a Fremont-bound train as it departed 12th St. Station. The male subject told the victim that he was armed with a handgun and not to move. The suspect then demanded the victim's property. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and off-boarded the train at Fruitvale Station with the suspect still on board. The train was searched at San Leandro Station with negative results. There was no loss.
A female passenger on a train was approached by an adult male who told her that he was armed with a gun, then demanded her belongings. The victim did not surrender any property and the suspect off-boarded at 12th St. Station. No weapon was actually seen.
BPD officers assisted the El Cerrito police in a search for four armed robbery suspects, all males in their mid to late teens. The loss included the victim's cell phone and music player. All suspects fled prior to the arrival of responding officers.
A BPD K9 unit was used to assist Orinda Police in the search for an armed robbery suspect thought to be hiding behind a gas station near the station. The search failed to yield the suspect.
An armed robbery was reported to have occurred some time between 1200 and 1400 hrs. The loss was reported to be a cellular phone and cash. The investigation continues pending contact with the victim.
Officers responded to a report of a fight on board a train. A subject, possibily involved in an earlier altercation at Embarcadero station, fled when spotted by officers who then gave chase. The subject dove off of the platform onto the street at 7th and Chester, sustaining severe injuries as a result. A gun was recovered along with narcotics. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was booked in absentia.
An adult male sustained a head wound when he was assaulted by up to three other adult males. The motive of the assault was not determined and it was reported that one of the assailants brandished a handgun. None of the suspects were located while the victim was treated at the scene.
BPD officers searching the area for burglary suspects involved in an earlier Fruitvale case were summoned to assist the Oakland Police in the search for two adult males reportedly armed with handguns. BPD officers searched backyards in the area with negative results. It is unknown if these subjects are related to the Fruitvale burglary.
Officers responded to a report of four to five females engaged in a disturbance. Upon arrival officers learned that an assault involving a pair of scissors took place with one female victim suffering a laceration wound to her hand. The incident apparently stemmed from a stare-down that led to a physical altercation that then led to the stabbing. One adult female was booked for the assault with a deadly weapon while a second adult female was booked for battery. Train service was interrupted for approximately one half hour.
Three young juveniles were detained after they took possession of a woman's purse after she placed it next to her. After taking the purse and while rifling through it, one of the youths pulled a pair of scissors out of the purse and threatened her with it. The youths were apprehended on the platform and later released on citations to their parents.
