An adult-male patron was attacked in the parking lot by a male suspect in his late 20's or early 30's. The suspect tackled and choked the victim, then held a knife to the victim's stomach. The suspect robbed the patron of a cell phone, cash and car keys. The suspect then fled in the victim's vehicle. Responding officers searched the area, but did not locate the suspect or victim vehicle.
A patron on a Richmond bound train was approached by a male in his early twenties who brandished a knife and demanded money. The victim told the suspect that he had no money in his possession and off-boarded at San Leandro Station, with the suspect and two other male accomplices remaining on board. The train was searched at Coliseum Station with negative results. There was no loss.
A patron reported that an adult male who was acting strangely on-board a train also appeared to have a gun in his pocket. The train was searched at the station, but no persons matching the suspect's description were located.
A citizen was robbed of his cell phone while he was waiting for a ride on the east side of the station adjacent to the parking lot. According to the victim, he was approached by a male, described as being tall and thin, who snatched a cell phone from his person and ran. The victim gave chase, catching the suspect at 71st and Hawley Streets. At that point the suspect pulled a handgun and was able to get the victim to back off. The incident took place at 1145 hrs. but was reported late. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot.
Four police officers and a sergeant responded to the Oakland/Berkeley border to assist with perimeter control and the search for suspects involved in the homicide/vehicle pursuit/fatal vehicle collision that started in Berkeley and ended up in the City of Oakland.
Two adult males were approached by two juvenile suspects in the bus zone. The suspects brandished a firearm and demanded property from the victims. The suspects took personal items from the victims and fled on foot with the loss.
Officers responded to the area of the Castro Valley BART station on a report from A/C Transit that a juvenile was carrying a firearm on board a bus. A sergeant assisted Alameda County Sheriffs' Deputies detain a group of juveniles who matched the description and narcotics were recovered from one of the suspects. No firearm was located.
A patron reported that an adult male suspect was brandishing a knife in a threatening manner. Officers detained the suspect, but the witness was unwilling to cooperate with the investigation and the suspect was released.
Officers responded to a report of an adult male in his early 20's attempting to rob a passenger on a Fremont bound train holding at Lake Merritt Station. The victim reported that the suspect claimed to be armed although no weapon was seen. The attempt was unsuccessful and the suspect was believed to still be on board the train. While officers searched, a second victim reported that the same suspect took a cell phone from him and left the station. An area search proved negative.
A female victim was seated on a train arriving at San Leandro when a male suspect approached her from behind and attempted to take her iPhone from her hand. The victim managed to hold onto the phone, but noticed that the suspect was holding a knife near her throat. The victim screamed out for help and the suspect fled the train and out of the station. The victim did not report the crime for 10-15 minutes. Officers conducted an area check at San Leandro, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Officers responded to a call of a subject yelling he had been robbed. They located a male kidnapping victim who had been pistol whipped. The subject had multiple lacerations on his head. The officers rendered first aid and summoned the Oakland Police when they determined the offense occurred a few blocks from the station. The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
A 16 year old juvenile reported that he was robbed on the platform of his iPod. The victim stated that the offense occurred at approximately 1600 hrs. and that the suspect, a male approximately 18 years old, claimed to be armed with a handgun although none was seen.
A citizen was robbed of a small amount of cash and an iPod by a male, 18-20 years of age, 6' in height and approximately 220 pounds, also wearing dreadlocks. The suspect claimed he was armed with handguns although none were seen.
A K9 officer on patrol of the station was exiting the parking lot when he observed suspicious behavior by two subjects, one in a van, the other standing just outside of it. They quickly sped away upon realizing the officer's presence. The officer determined the van to be stolen out of Oakland. A short pursuit resulted with the van crashing into a fence. The suspects, an adult male and a juvenile male, were apprehended after a search of the yards. A loaded handgun was recovered in the vehicle. Both subjects were booked.
An officer assisted Highway Patrol officers in the search of a subject armed with a firearm. The incident began as an attempted car stop which turned into a vehicle pursuit. The suspect fled from his vehicle at the Hegenberger St. overcrossing into the bushes. The suspect was found and the weapon recovered.
Two adult male suspects approached an adult female in the parking lot and took the victim's purse against her will. One of the suspects brandished a shotgun during the robbery. The suspects fled on foot with the loss and were not located.
San Francisco Police reported an armed male suspect had just robbed a bank, and entered the Mongtomery Street station. BART officers assisted in the search, holding trains outside the station. The suspect was arrested by San Francisco Police a few minutes later after exiting the Powell Street station. 0904-0864 L12.
Officers responded to the MacArthur Station to investigate a report that an adult male suspect was assaulting another person and had sprayed yet another person in the face with pepper spray. On arrival, an officer located the suspect near the station parking lot. The suspect was uncooperative and combative and resisted the officer's lawful detention. The adult male victim who had been sprayed with pepper spray positively identified the suspect as being responsible for the unprovoked attack. It was later discovered that the suspect is currently on felony probation for a similar crime. The suspect received medical treatment and was booked for misuse of a tear gas weapon, violation of probation and resisting arrest.
A man was carjacked by two adult-male suspects, one of whom pointed a gun at him. The victim's wallet was also taken. An Alameda Co. sheriff's deputy spotted the stolen SUV in Castro Valley at 2351 hrs. and pursued it until the vehicle crashed. BART police personnel responded to the scene to assist, but the suspect escaped.
A 13 year old juvenile was robbed of his MP3 player by a male approximately 18-20 years of age. The suspect was armed with a handgun which he displayed during the commission of the crime. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect who fled on foot. The offense occurred in the bus stop area.
At the request of the Oakland Police Department, BPD units responded to the area of 73rd Ave. and MacArthur Blvd. to assist at the scene of an officer-involved shooting in which as many as five Oakland officers were shot, three fatally at the time of this log entry. BPD units assisted with maintaining a perimeter and in searching for the suspect.
The victim of an armed robbery that occurred a block from the Rockridge station reported the incident to a lieutenant at the station. The victim, six and one-half months pregnant, was struck in the stomach by the gun-wielding suspect who demanded her belongings as she walked north on Keith Ave. The suspect, an adult male in his late 20's, fled in a black Honda. The victim was taken to a local hospital for examination. Loss was $600 cash.
An adult male was held for psychiatric evaluation after he was reportedly aiming what appeared to be a firearm at passengers on a Richmond train at Berkeley Station. The subject was detained without incident and found to be in possession of a toy gun. Responding officers determined the subject was in need of psychiatric attention due to his erratic behavior.
An adult male victim reported being cut in the face by another male adult while at the bottom of the stairs to the entrance of the station. The suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim, who had minor facial injuries, gave officers conflicting stories of the incident and would not be able to identify the suspect if seen again. 0903-0690 L12.
The victim of an armed robbery at the intersection of 37th Ave. and San Leandro St. reported the inicdent at Fruitvale Station. Responding officers obtained a description of the suspects and their vehicle, a dark four-door sedan, and conducted the initial area check. The suspects were described as two males, one of whom was wearing a mask. Loss was $250 cash. The victim eventually declined a report and OPD was cancelled from responding.
