Numerous passengers reported a male suspect trying to take a phone from a female victim and an ensuing physical struggle for the phone. The victim was able to retain possession of the phone and the suspect was later determined to have fled on a train. He was subsequently detained at the West Oakland Station. The victim responded and identified him as the person who tried to take her phone. The suspect (Anthony Layton, 19 years old, Vacaville) was issued a prohibition order before being booked into the Santa Rita Jail for an outstanding $10,000 theft warrant and for attempted robbery. The victim was not injured during the crime. Another male (Ezekiel Addison, 19 years old, San Francisco) who was originally detained, but physically resisted the detention, was not identified by the victim as being involved in the robbery, but he was booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail for resisting/delaying an officer.
An officer was struck in the face while attempting to detain a suspect. The suspect fled from the scene, but left his wallet with his identification. A warrant arrest for battery on an officer will be sought via the District Attorney's office against the suspect (Virgil Ard, 29, Oakland).
10/11/17 at 0020 hours Numerous patrons reported that a male and female were fighting on the platform and on the track way at the West Oakland BART Station. Officers responded and detained two individuals that were identified as being involved in the fight. The male and female did not wish to pursue a complaint. The male was sent to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after making suicidal statements. While dealing with the above, officers saw someone throw a purse from the platform down to a male on the street level. The male became combative when officers tried to investigate who the owner of the purse was. After a brief struggle, during which he punched two officers, he was subdued and placed into a WRAP restraint. The suspect was placed on a psychiatric hold and will be booked into the county jail for resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer upon his release. It was later discovered that the purse was taken from a female who had been assaulted on the platform, but declined to pursue a complaint. A supervisor responded to perform the use of force investigation. One officers sustained injuries while attempting to restrain the suspect.
Officers stopped a male (Dominic James, 21 years, Oakland) for fare evasion at the Coliseum Station. James attempted to resist and was taken into custody after a brief struggle. He was booked into jail for resisting arrest and violation of probation. James was issued a prohibition order.
A male subject, Brandon Pakeman (20 years old, San Leandro), refused to comply with officer's orders to back away from a detention of a female. Pakeman stood approximately two feet away from officers who were attempting to detain the female. Despite several orders to back up, Pakeman refused to comply and physically resisted when the officers attempted to pull him away from the location. Pakeman was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle and was booked into Santa Rita jail for 148(a)(1) PC.
Officers contacted a male for fare evasion. The juvenile falsely identified himself. It was later discovered that the male was a missing person, had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, and in possession of stolen property that was connected to a robbery from 9/28/17. The juvenile will be transported to Juvenile Hall.
Officers contacted a male (Randy Jones, 65 years, San Francisco) who is known to have a valid court order prohibiting him from being on BART property. A records check confirmed the court order. After a brief struggle Jones was placed under arrest for the court order violation and resisting arrest. Jones was booked at the San Francisco County Jail.
The station agent reported that a male suspect was acting erratically in the station. When an officer contacted the man to check his welfare, he became combative and had to be subdued with a Taser. The man was found to have an outstanding $25,000 arrest warrant for resisting arrest, held by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office. The man was transported to the hospital for medical clearance, and then to John George Pavilion for psychiatric evaluation, with a criminal hold. There were no injuries.
Officers detained a male (Suliman Ahmed, 24 years old, San Leandro) for fare evasion. Ahmed initially falsely identified himself. Further investigation revealed that Ahmed was in violation of a court order to stay away from two individuals that he was with. Ahmed was arrested for falsely identifying himself and for violating the court order. Ahmed was transported and booked into Santa Rita County Jail.
Officers stopped a male (Sky Lowe, 19 years) for fare evading into the Powell Street Station. Lowe resisted and fought with the officers. Force was used to place Lowe into handcuffs. Lowe was cited for fare evasion and was booked into jail for resisting arrest and for making criminal threats. In addition, he was issued a prohibition order.
Officers responded to the Concord Station for a report of a female fare evader (Marleni Sanchez, 19 years, Oakland) who battered a BART employee. Marleni called her boyfriend (Joshua Molina, 20 years, Concord) who responded to the station and also attempted to batter a BART Employee. An officer stopped Molina and Molina struggled with the officer. Force was used to place Molina under arrest and he was booked into jail. Sanchez was booked into jail for battery and resisting arrest. Sanchez and Molina were issued prohibition orders.
Officers on patrol at the Powell Street Station observed a female (Brienne Morgan-Stetienne, 22 years, Pittsburg) fare evade through the fare gates to exit. Morgan-Stetienne attempted to walk away from the officers, resisted arrest and battered one of the officers. She was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on the listed charges and was issued a prohibition order.
Officers stopped a female fare evading thru the fare gates at the Fruitvale Station. A records check showed the female had a court order prohibiting her from being on BART. The female resisted arrest and she was taken into custody after a struggle.
Officer contacted a male subject, later identified as Tyrell Smallwood (26 years old), for fare evasion. Officer discovered that Smallwood had a warrant and attempted to arrest him. Smallwood ran but was apprehended a short distance away. Smallwood was arrested on the listed charges and booked into Santa Rita County Jail.
Officers on-viewed a male subject fare evade at the Lake Merritt BART Station. Upon contact, the male, later identified as Joshua Melden (27 years old, San Francisco), falsely identified himself and resisted arrest. Officers also determined that the male was unable to care for himself due to alcohol intoxication. Melden was booked into Santa Rita County Jail.
A male suspect physically resisted officers who attempted to detain him for fare evasion. After a lengthy struggle, during which he attempted to kick one officer, officers were finally able to subdue the suspect by placing him in handcuffs and the WRAP restraint. The suspect was then booked into the county jail for resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. An uninvolved supervisor responded to perform the use of force investigation. Three officers sustained minor injuries while attempting to restrain the suspect.
Officers responded to a report of a male and female fighting in the parking lot. The male resisted being detained, but was taken into custody after a short struggle. Officers determined that the male was the primary aggressor and he was arrested for domestic violence. The male was issued a prohibition order and was booked at Glenn Dyer Jail for domestic violence and resisting arrest.
An officer observed a suspect (Tre Eric Thomas, 19 years, Hayward) enter the BART system without using a ticket in violation of the law. The officer attempted to detain the suspect, but the suspect resisted the detention and attempted to flee from the officer. The suspect was arrested and booked for resisting arrest.
Multiple people called into BART PD dispatch to report a make subject who had threatened another male with a knife while aboard Pittsburg/Bay Point bound train. Officers working a special detail were on scene when the train arrived at the West Oakland Station. As officers went to contact the suspect, later identified as Jayeddy DAVIS (23 years old, Burlingame, CA), he took off running away and ran into the city streets nearby. Officers were eventually able to detain DAVIS and recover a knife he attempted to discard. It was later determined DAVIS has pushed the knife into the stomach of a victim who did not sustain any injury while aboard the train. Davis was found to be on active probation. DAVIS was booked into Glenn Dyer jail in Oakland and was issued a prohibition order.
A male subject was yelling and causing a disturbance on a Richmond train. Officers arrived and detained the subject (Ismael Williams, 25 years old, Modesto) on the platform. Williams attempted to leave the detention prior to its conclusion and board the train. A records check revealed an outstanding $2500 warrant for theft. Williams was arrested for the warrant and for resting/delaying a police officer. Williams was booked at the Fremont Jail.
While on patrol, officers observed a male (Eduardo Rivera, 23 years, San Francisco) exit through the emergency gate without processing his ticket out at the Fruitvale Station. Rivera ignored the officer's commands to stop and ran from them. After a short foot pursuit, Rivera was located and placed under arrest. He was booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail.
A sergeant contacted an adult female for fare evasion. The female resisted the detention and fought with the sergeant. During the struggle, the suspect bit the sergeant. She was eventually taken into custody. She was found to have a valid stay away order to stay away from all BART stations. She was issued a prohibition order and placed on a psychiatric evaluation hold with a criminal hold for resisting arrest, battery on an officer and violation of the court order. She will be booked on those charges once she has been cleared for booking.
An officer contacted an adult male for fare evasion. The male (Karl Lampkin, 60 years old, Richmond) tried to walk away from the officer. The officer was able to physically restrain the male and place him in handcuffs. There were no injuries as a result of the incident. The male was issued a citation for fare evasion and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for resisting arrest.
