An Officer was conducting a security check on an East bound train holding on the platform. He was flagged down by an anonymous patron regarding a subject passed out on a seat. The Officer contacted the subject who became agitated. The Officer waited for his cover unit and they were able to off-board the subject without incident, to conduct the welfare check. A Sergeant also responded to the scene. It was determined the subject was in need of Psychiatric Evaluation. It was also determined he had an outstanding no bail California Department of Corrections warrant for parole violation. The subject was transported to Highland Hospital, with a hold for booking on the warrant. There was about an 8 minute train delay.

The station agent reported that a suspicious person at the secondary end of the station had moved a orange traffic cone and was removing a small round cover from the floor. The suspect then began removing wires from the hole in the floor. Officers made contact with the male and discovered that he was in need of psychiatric evaluation. The male was transported to SFGH for evaluation. Officers determined that he had not caused any damage to the station. TSOC was notified of the event.

Officers responded to the station on a report of a female suspect who threatened use a “knife” on an employee who works the end of the line train cleaning. No weapon was displayed or seen. The suspect was sitting on a train when contacted by officers. After further investigation, it was determine the suspect was in need of psychiatric evaluation, and was detained for such. No weapon was found. The detainee was transported to Martinez County Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

A 33-year-old man telephoned the ISRC/police dispatch from a concourse/free-area pay phone. He said that he wanted to commit suicide by being struck by a train. A dispatcher kept the man talking on the phone until an officer arrived. The subject was transported by ambulance to the John George Psychiatric Pavillion for a psychological evaluation. Trains entered/exited the station in road-manual mode until the subject was detained. According to the OCC, no notable train delay resulted.

An officer to the station on a report of a female who was feeling suicidal. Upon contact with the female, she told the officer she was hearing voices that were telling her to hurt herself. The female also told the officer she was off of her medications and that she has prior visit(s) to the John George Psychiatric Pavilion. The female was detained for psychiatric evaluation and transported to the hospital by responding medical personnel. A records check was conducted and the female has an active misdemeanor arrest warrant ($20,000) out of ACSO. An agency hold was placed on the female following her release from the psychiatric detention.

An officer responded to the station on a report of a male suspect pushing patrons and creating a disturbance in the Dublin-side bus zone. The officer contacted and detained the suspect for assault. After further investigation, the officer concluded the suspect was delusional and a danger to others, and subsequently detained him for psychiatric evaluation. The detainee was transported to Valley Care Hospital by responding AMR personnel for medical clearance, and thereafter is slated to be transported to John George Psychiatric Pavilion for psychiatric evaluation.

The train operator of a Daly City bound train reported a subject acting erratic, yelling and screaming in the lead train car. Officers met the train at the Coliseum station and off-boarded the subject. Upon further investigation, it was determined the subject would be detained for a psychiatric evaluation, and subsequently transported to John George Medical Center by responding medical personnel.

Unknown patrons reported a subject was pointing his fingers at patrons as if he was going to shoot them on a San Francisco bound train. An unknown station agent reported the subject was also making gestures like he was going to squeeze a woman’s breast. The train was held at the station, and an officer off-boarded the subject. The subject was a danger to himself and others and unable to care for his own safety. The subject was transported to John George Psychiatric Facility by AMR. 1106-0227-L24.

A 37-year-old man was standing in the middle of the north-bound trackway. He was not moving or talking. A nurse on scene advised that she believed he was schizophrenic. Officers calmly talked to the man from the platform. Another officer got down onto the trackway, slowly approached the subject, and spoke to him quietly. Together, the officers succeeded in removing the man from the trackway. The man was determined to be in need of a psychological evaluation. He was transported by ambulance to the John George Psychiatric Pavillion. Train service was delayed for 10 minutes.

Officers contacted a suspect a black male subject (Hodges, Dwayne L. 5/5/82, B/M) for fare evasion. The suspect had a no bail misdemeanor warrant for larceny out of Concord P.D. When the officers tried to take him into custody for the warrant he struggled with the Officers until he was taken into custody. The suspect started making suicidal threats so he was placed on a psychiatric hold with a criminal hold on him for resisting a police officer, battery on an officer and the warrant. When the ambulance arrived the suspect started making criminal threats to the Emergency Medical Technician so a criminal threats charge was added to the hold. One officer received minor injuries.

A 49-year-old woman was initially contacted, at 2047 hrs., on a County Connection bus at Pleasant Hill station for disturbing others and refusing to off-board the bus. An officer attempted to assist the woman by escorting her aboard a train to MacArthur station. The woman began showing signs of being mentally ill and was detained by the officer, with the assistance of a sergeant and other officers. A minimal amount of force was used to detain the subject. The woman, who sustained no physical injuries, was transported by ambulance to Highland Hospital for psychological evaluation.

A 23 year old female subject was reported by patrons on the platform at the Civic Center Station as lying down with her head extended over the edge of the platform. Patrons pulled the subject away from the track-way and reported the incident to BART Police. Officers were already at the station and responded quickly. The officers found the subject standing on the platform and one of the assisting patrons was standing by with her. Officers placed the subject on a psychiatric hold and transported her to St. Francis Hospital. There was a brief two minute train hold as a result of this incident.

An officer contacted a female subject in the bus zone who was reported to be disturbing the peace and intoxicated in public. The officer suspected the subject was intoxicated and attempted to take her into custody. The suspect was boisterous, talking non-sensible and was resistive to the officer’s arrest. After detaining the suspect, the officer determined the suspect was in need of psychiatric evaluation. The subject was subsequently detained and placed on a psychiatric evaluation hold, and was transported to Martinez County Hospital.

A male subject contacted the station agent regarding being robbed and not feeling well. The station agent stated the subject was not making any sense. A BART officer responded and determined the subject was depressed, and taken a questionable amount of medication. The subject had a $50,000 misdemeanor warrant for threats out of SFPD. A psychiatric hold was placed on the subject and he was transported to Washington Hospital by paramedics for evaluation. The subject was later cleared medically and booked on the outstanding warrant at the Santa Rita jail.

Officers sweeping the last revenue train of the evening came upon a female who refused to off-board. After some coaxing, the female stepped off the train and was escorted to a nearby station exit. The female, however, ran back into the station where she sat on the platform's edge with her legs dangling over the trackway. Upon being approached by officers a second time, the female ran onto another out-of-service train where she was eventually detained. Based upon the female's unusual behavior(s), she was held for a psychiatric evaluation at Mills-Peninsula Hospital.

The hospital will notify the department when the subject is mentally cleared for booking.
