A citizen flagged down a BART police officer to report that the suspect who stole $20,000 worth of jewelry from her house was in a nearby truck. The officer stopped the truck and took the suspect into custody. El Cerrito PD responded to receive the suspect and continue the investigation.
An officer responding to a fare evasion report located the suspect about a block away from the station. When he was contacted, the suspect shoved the officer in the chest and tried to escape. The officer attempted to apprehend him, wrestling the violently resisting suspect to the ground several times in the street, but was unable to secure him. Citizens finally assisted the officer and the suspect was taken into custody. He was booked on the battery as well as drug possession.
A juvenile male with a bicycle was accosted by another juvenile who wanted to take it from him. The suspect grabbed the bicycle, but the victim refused to let go, and they wrestled over it. He then punched the victim in the face and tried several times to get the bike, following the victim on and off the train and threatening to hit him again. Responding officers arrested the suspect and booked him at Juvenile Hall.
A female patron was attempting to get her laptop out of her vehicle trunk when a male subject grabbed her purse and escaped on foot. She was not injured and an area check for the suspect was unsuccessful.
A BART employee was approached by a male at the Fruitvale station. The male pointed a gun at the employee, and demanded money. The male took a wallet, cash, and a cell phone. There were no injuries, and the suspect fled in an unknown direction.
An officer walking on the West Oakland Station platform seemed to startle a male suspect, who suddenly appeared to hide something behind his back. When the officer approached, the suspect tossed a baggie of narcotics onto the trackway, then charged the officer, and had a hand on the officer's baton. The suspect fought with the officer, then ran from the station. Another officer found the suspect hiding under a vehicle a few blocks away. The suspect was taken into custody, but needed hospital treatment for a minor injury.
A suspect was threatening patrons with a large meat cleaver and yelling in a foreign language. Officers confronted the suspect at 8th and Oak Streets. The suspect dropped the meat cleaver but was combative, and had to be wrestled to the ground and taken into custody. He was committed for psychiatric evaluation.
A patron was approached by a male and female pair of robbery suspects. The female snatched the victim's cell phone and the male demanded $20.00 to return the phone. The suspects fled with the phone and cash. The victim did not initially report the incident and the suspects were GOA/UTL.
A patron was robbed at gunpoint and the suspect fled from the station. Later, while still in contact with an officer, the victim observed the suspect enter the station. The officer engaged the suspect in a foot pursuit and the suspect was captured. A replica firearm and some of the victim's property were recovered. The suspect was arrested and booked.
An enraged Ashby Flea Market vendor brandished a large knife at a juvenile who may have tried stealing an item from the vendor. An adult female associate of the juvenile pulled the suspect away from the juvenile. The suspect slashed the woman's hand causing a laceration which necessitated suturing. The incident was not initially reported, and the suspect was GOA/UTL. An investigation is on-going.
Officers on train patrol aboard a Daly City bound train approaching Embarcadero Station observed a suspect in possession of a large quantity of counterfeit DVD's. The officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the suspect and found him in possession of marijuana packaged for sale. He was arrested and booked.
An adult male victim was assaulted by two adult male suspects at Fruitvale station. The suspects punched the victim while trying to take his cellphone. The suspects fled into the neighborhood. An area search proved negative.
Officers received a report from patrons that an adult male suspect had exited the platform at El Cerrito Del Norte station and was walking along the trackway to Richmond. Trains were held out of the area. Officers located the highly intoxicated suspect along the tracks near the Del Norte station. The suspect was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for interfering with railroad operations and public intoxication.
Officers contacted a very intoxicated male who was lying on the catwalk between the R1 and R2 tracks just north of the El Cerrito DelNorte station. Subject was helped onto a train by the officers, and was arrested and booked for trespassing and public intoxication.
An officer serving a stay away order on a habitual BART violator, determined the man also had several arrest warrants. Upon arresting the suspect, the officer discovered numerous counterfeit fare tickets on the suspect. The suspect was booked at the San Francisco Hall of Justice.
A subject discharged a round from a shotgun in the parking lot as a large group of unruly Coliseum event-goers traversed the area. The suspect was chased down and apprehended three blocks away and the weapon was recovered.
The station was searched for two suspects who robbed an AC Transit bus passenger at gunpoint at International and Fruitvale Ave. At least one of the two suspects was seen at Fruitvale station by the bus driver. An area searched proved negative.
