A victim reported his Schwinn High Timber men’s mountain bike, valued at $189 was taken while locked in the south end bike racks. It was secured with a Key & Go bicycle lock which is valued at $9.99. The victim did not know the serial number to the bicycle. The bicycle was left at 0815 hours and missing upon the victims return at 1325 hours.
A victim was on a Tri Delta Express bus in the bus zone when she saw a black male break into a side storage bike locker and take her bicycle. She was unable to get off the bus due to the doors being locked. The bike and suspect were last seen heading down the access road toward Bailey Road. No other witnesses were located. Unknown value.
A patron reported the theft of his men's 21 speed Le Monde Road bike, blue in color, with white tape on the handle bars. The patron locked his bike and helmet to the bike rack near the secondary station agent's booth on 4/29/12 around 1400 hours. He returned on 4/30/12 at 0920 to find his bike, helmet and locks missing. The victim locked his bike with a kryptonite U-lock and a cable lock. The victim was not able to provide a serial number for the bike. The total loss of the bike, helmet and locks was $390. There was no video surveillance of the area where the bike was stolen.
A woman reported that her bicycle (Columbia brand, men’s mountain bike, 10-speed, 24-inch frame, blue in color) had been stolen on 04/25/12, between 0750-2130 hrs., from the bike rack behind the ticket machine.
A patron witnessed a man cut the lock off a mountain bicycle at the station and ride off with it toward Central Avenue. Officers arrived at the station to search for the suspect with negative results. The victim arrived at the station at 1728 hours, and stated he had parked and locked his $95.00 Walk Mart mountain bike at the station on 4/25/12 at 1000 hours. 1204-3628 L12.
While on patrol at the station, an officer witnessed a subject attempting to steal a green Mongoose bicycle from the bike rack. The subject was detained for attempted theft of the bicycle. Upon further investigation, the subject was arrested for burglary, attempted theft, and possession of burglary tools. Detectives notified. 1204-3644 L12.
An officer contacted a woman who reported her bicycle was stolen from the bikerack at North Berkeley Station. The victim reported that she locked her 6-speed Ranger bike with a cable approximately 1800 hours on 4/23/12. When she returned approximately 1500 hours on 4/24/12, the bike was missing. There are no known suspect(s). The officer requested that video be recovered.
An officer on patrol detained a suspect who appeared to be casing bicycles for theft. The officer discovered that the suspect was subject to a court order prohibiting him from being at a BART station. The suspect was arrested for the stay away order, debriefed for criminal intelligence and booked at jail for the violation. The suspect was found to be in possession of bolt cutters when he was searched incident to arrest.
A patron called to report the theft of her black, red and white Giants, 10-speed bicycle from the bike racks in the free area. She said that she locked the bike using a black cable lock on 4/20 at 1330 hours. When she returned on 4/20 at 2230 hours, the bike and lock were gone.
A BART Officer was contacted by a man who reported his bicycle was stolen from the bike rack at West Oakland Station. The victim reported that he locked his 2011 Mens’ Electra bike with a cable approximately 0830 hours. When he returned approximately 1715 hours, the bike was missing and the cut cable was nearby. There are no known suspect(s). The rack is below a station camera, and video will be recovered which may depict the theft.
A BART officer responded to the Richmond station to take a bike theft report from a victim waiting at the booth. The victim reported his men's Trek model 4500 mountain bike, value $300 was missing. It is unknown what the time frame of the theft was.
A silver 10 speed Trek Bontarager bicycle was stolen between 1630 and 2130 hours. The victim used a U-Bolt lock on the front rim and a cable lock on the frame. Upon his return only the front was still locked to the bike rack. The cable lock was there but had been cut. Victim was unable to provide serial numbers for the bike.
A 24 speed, Giant brand, Yukon model bicycle valued at $700 was taken from the Ashby Station. The bike was locked in the free area at 1215 hours. When the owner returned at 1930 hours the bike and the Kryptonite cable lock were missing. The serial numbers were entered into APS and the video hotline notified.
A BART Officer contacted a victim who reported his bicycle was stolen today’s date from the Walnut Creek Station. The victim stated he locked his $700, Ibex brand, Alpine 550 at the bike racks about 0545 hours. When he returned about 1715 hours, the bicycle was missing. The victim will supply a serial number soon. There are no known suspect(s) at this time.
Officers responded to a report of several juveniles attempting to steal a bike at the station. Two juveniles were detained and a third suspect fled on a bicycle. No witnesses could be located and there was insufficient evidence to arrest the suspects for a crime. The suspects were identified, their parents notified and released.
