Officers responded to a report of several juveniles attempting to steal a bike at the station. Two juveniles were detained and a third suspect fled on a bicycle. No witnesses could be located and there was insufficient evidence to arrest the suspects for a crime. The suspects were identified, their parents notified and released.
A patron parked and locked his bicycle at about 10:15 using a bike rack located in the plaza between the parking structure and the apartments. When the patron returned at 20:20, he discovered that some unknown suspect had cut the cable lock and removed the bike without his permission.
A man reported that his $1200, silver-colored, specialized Rockhopper men’s 21-speed mountain bicycle had been stolen from the bike racks. The theft occurred between 1324 hrs. on 04/07/12, and 0010 hrs. on 04/08/12.
A man who is a convicted bicycle thief and is a registered sex offender was detained at Lake Merritt Station when he attempted to exit the system at the station in possession of two bicycles, a set of bolt cutters and an invalid BART ticket. The suspect's parole officer was contacted and a parole hold was placed on him. The suspect was arrested and booked and the bicycles were kept for safekeeping.
A patron called to report the theft of his blue Trek, 15-spd men's mountain bike from the bike racks. The bike had been secured with a cable lock. The theft occurred between 0900 and 1830 hours on 3/27/12.
A patron reported that their bike was taken from the bike racks in the paid area of the Civic Center Station sometime between 07:05 and 17:45. The bike had been secured with a U-lock and cable chain.
A patron/victim reported his bicycle was stolen from the bicycle racks on the primary end of the station. An officer contacted the victim by phone. The victim stated on 03/17/12 at approximately 1530 hrs he used a cable lock to secure his bicycle to the racks. When he returned on 03/18/12, his bicycle was missing. The stolen bicycle: Schwinn, 21-spd road bike, red frame, Value = $250. The police video technician was contacted regarding the crime timeframe.
A patron/victim reported his bicycle was stolen from the station bicycle racks today between the hours of 0830-1646. The bike: Drk grn mountain bike, unk. Brand, Value $70. The bicycle was locked with a cable lock, which was also missing. There is no suspect(s) at this time.
A female victim called to report her bicycle was stolen today while parked at the Fremont BART station between 0900-1600 hrs. Loss was a 26” West Cruisor, red and silver in color. An officer has been assigned to phone the victim for a police report. Nothing further at this time.
