An officer on patrol in the Coliseum Station lot was flagged down by an Oakland officer asking for assistance in the felony car stop of a murder suspect. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Two BPD units responded to assist.
An officer on patrol at Coliseum Station observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed southbound on San Leandro St. The officer, who was not engaged in a pursuit, saw the vehicle become involved in a solo car crash at the 8200 block of San Leandro St. The driver was killed instantly. The officer and a second BPD unit were able to extricate the victim from the wreckage as the car burst into flames.
BPD officers checked the Coliseum Station area for two suspects who reportedly committed a burglary to a local auto parts store. The report came by way of the Oakland Police who advised that the suspects were last seen in the area of the Coliseum BART Station. A search of the area proved negative although a subject matching one of the descriptions was seen walking through the pedestrian tunnel by the station agent.
A patrol sergeant stopped a vehicle for traveling in the wrong direction and subsequently arrested the driver, an adult female, for a no-bail parole violation warrant and for being in possession of cocaine.
While sitting next to a woman on board a train, a male suspect grabbed the female's crotch area as she attempted to rise from her seat. The suspect then got up, and touched another female on the arm. Officers arrived at the station, and the suspect was placed under citizens' arrest for sexual battery and battery. The suspect was booked at Glen Dyer jail. 0902-1455 L12.
An anonymous patron reported that there was a man who was armed with a handgun on board a Pittsburg bound train. The firearm was reportedly concealed in a backpack that the man was carrying. Officers intercepted the train at the West Oakland Station and searched for the anyone matching the suspect's description. Two persons were located who matched the description, but neither was carrying a firearm.
BPD officers assisted the Oakland Police in an area search for an automobile taken during an armed robbery by a group of 6 to 8 males in their late teens, one of whom was armed with a handgun (revolver). The offense occurred near the West Oakland Station on Willow near 7th St.
An officer responded to a report of a 37-year-old man disturbing the peace aboard a Pittsburg train. When the officer arrived, the suspect assumed a fighting stance towards a patron. The officer intervened and off-boarded the suspect, who forcefully resisted. During the struggle, a platform window was shattered and the officer sustained severe cuts on his face, requiring medical treatment. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and battery on a peace officer with injury. He was to be booked at the Santa Rita Jail.
An adult male contacted for panhandling was found to have a probationary search clause. When the contacting officer attempted to search the subject pursuant to the probationary clause, the subject physically resisted. The suspect was arrested for resisting and delaying and possession of a crack pipe. 0
Officers responded to a report of a 42-year-old man molesting a girl aboard a San Francisco-bound train. The suspect was arrested on child-molestation charges. The on-call detective was summoned and is continuing the investigation.
Officers assisted in an area search for four males in their late teens who robbed a citizen of a laptop computer and car keys. One of the subjects was armed with a handgun. The offense took place in a paid parking lot adjacent to Mandela Parkway. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.
A patron walking through the parking lot was the victim of a cell phone snatch by a male, 17-20 years of age. The suspect fled on a bicycle on or towards Mandela Parkway. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect.
A female patron was robbed of her purse while ascending a stairway en route to the platform level. The suspect, a male in his 20's, was coming down the stairway when he grabbed the victim's purse which was strapped to her shoulder. The suspect then fled the station towards Mandela Parkway and escaped.
A 26-year-old man told an officer at West Oakland station that there was a bomb aboard a train that was heading toward Lake Merritt station. There was a 7-minute train delay while the train was searched and determined to be safe. Patrons said that the reporting party had been behaving strangely. The man ran into a nearby store and began throwing merchandise around. He was detained for psychiatric evaluation and transported to Highland Hospital.
Officers arrested an adult male suspect after they saw him burglarizing a vehicle parked in the lot. The male was booked at Glen Dyer Jail for burglary and possession of stolen property.
A citizen reported seeing an adult male suspect who was possibly carrying a handgun concealed under his clothing. Officers responded and detained two suspects who matched the description given by the citizen. No weapons were located but one suspect was arrested for a felony no-bail warrant charging narcotics and probation violations.
An adult female was robbed by an adult male suspect who simulated having a weapon in his pocket. The suspect took an iPod and cash from the victim and fled on a train. The train was searched in San Francisco, but the suspect was not located.
Officers responded to Fruitvale Station to investigate an attempted carjacking involving two adult males, one armed with a knife. One officer located the suspect vehicle two blocks from the station. The vehicle was registered to a nearby address and the registered owner was contacted. An in-field show conducted with the victim and witness cleared the registered owner as a suspect. The investigation will be turned over to the Oakland Police as it was learned that the offense occurred at 34th and San Leandro Street.
An adult female and an adult male were in a loud verbal dispute at the Fruitvale Station. Officers detained the involved parties and determined that the dispute originated from an argument that had started on city streets near the station. During the argument, the male had made threats against the female and the female had used a brick to break the window of the male's car. The Oakland Police Department was busy and unable to respond to this incident, so BART officers took an outside assist case and cited both parties on a cross-complaint.
An adult female with two outstanding warrants turned herself in at the station. One warrant was a felony no-bail violation of parole warrant; the other a misdemeanor narcotics violation warrant.
A citizen had a cell phone snatched from his possession by a male (age unknown at this time) who fled on foot on 8th St.
A juvenile reported being robbed by as many as six other juveniles on a city street near the station. Officers responded but were initially unable to locate the suspects. About two hours later, one suspect was detained at the station and the victim came to the station and positively identified the suspect as being involved in the robbery. The case was turned over to the Oakland Police Department.
Members of the Special Problems Unit spotted a suspicious person near a gate adjacent to a commercial business on Oakland's Embarcadero. Upon returning to check on the subject's activity, they found a shopping cart with appeared to be office materials. Further examination turned up a second subject, burglary tools, and evidence of forced entry. Both suspects were turned over to the Oakland Police Department after a BPD K9 was used to sweep the establishment of additional suspects.
A male juvenile contacted for fare evasion was found to be in possession of marijuana and a replica firearm. A records check also revealed a no bail warrant for his arrest. The juvenile was booked at juvenile hall for the warrant and possession of a replica weapon.
Officers responded to a call of a subject yelling he had been robbed. They located a male kidnapping victim who had been pistol whipped. The subject had multiple lacerations on his head. The officers rendered first aid and summoned the Oakland Police when they determined the offense occurred a few blocks from the station. The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
