A victim reported that their vehicle was burglarized while parked at the station between 1030-1930 hours. The rear window was smashed to gain entry and a backpack containing makeup and a pink Taser were taken.
The on-duty station agent called in to report a physical altercation between an Asian female and a Black male in the free area of the station. The agent reported the female was claiming the male juvenile stole her phone while she was on a Millbrae bound train. Officers responded and contacted both parties who had returned to the station agent’s booth. Officers determined the male juvenile had not taken the female’s phone, however he was reportedly with person who had grabbed the phone from victim’s hands. The male juvenile denied knowing the suspect who took the female’s phone, but was found to be in possession of an airsoft gun. The male juvenile detained was later issued a citation for an Oakland municipal code. The female described the phone theft suspect as being a Black male juvenile, approximately 17 years of age, 5’8” tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants. The female stated the suspect was with three to four other juveniles, which included the juvenile who was detained by the officers. Officers were unsuccessful in tracking the phone.
Officers detained a subject for grand theft of a cell phone from a victim on board a train. Victim positively identified the suspect as the offender. The suspect was in possession of the victim’s phone. The subject was arrested for grand theft and booked at juvenile hall. Video was requested.
A male victim reported that a group of juveniles (4 males, 3 females) took his phone and punched him before running out of the train and out of the station. Responding officers were flagged down by the victim, who pointed out two of the suspects. Both suspects were detained a few blocks from the station and the victim identified them as the males who took his phone and punched him. The phone was not recovered. The victim declined medical attention. The two juvenile suspects (ages 16 and 9 years) were transported back to the Lake Merritt Police Substation. Detectives were notified of the arrest. The 9 year old refused to give a statement and was issued a citation before being released to a parent. The 16 year old was interviewed and then booked into the Alameda County Juvenile Detention Center.
A victim reported that his blue bike (unknown brand) was taken from the bike racks. The bike was secured with a chain lock and when the victim returned, the bike and chain were gone. Upon seeing the victim making the report, a witness reported that a male suspect (BM, 5'7", 35 years, long tan coat, green tank top) took the bike at about 2012 hours. Station video will be requested.
Officers responded to West Oakland station to investigate a report of a female on a Daly City train who was brandishing a box cutter in a threatening manner. Officers detained the suspect and determined that the suspect had been involved in a dispute over a seat and had brandished a box cutter in a threatening manner towards the victim. The victim placed the suspect under citizen's arrest and the suspect was cited and issued a prohibition order.
An officer ran the plate of a Ford F-250 truck pulling a trailer which came back stolen out of CHP-Placerville’s jurisdiction. The vehicle was occupied by three occupants. The officer followed the vehicle to 7th and Center St. where it stopped, and the suspects exited. The officer waited for additional units before taking two adult male suspects into custody. The third suspect eluded capture. The trailer was also reported stolen out of Sunnyvale. The two suspects were booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail.
The station agent reported that a male who had been banging on the door to the employee restroom then spat on the agent as the male left the station. Officers responded and detained the man. The agent made a positive identification of the man, and performed a citizen's arrest. Due to the 12-24 hours booking delay at Santa Rita Jail, the suspect was cited for battery on a transit employee and released. The suspect was issued a prohibition order.
An officer attempted to detain the suspect for fare evasion when he took off running. The officer wasn’t able to catch the suspect, but during the chase, the suspect left behind clothing and his cell phone. A few moments later, the suspect returned and attempted to retrieve his phone. The officer attempted to detain the suspect, but the suspect resisted the officer’s efforts. After a brief struggle, the officer was able to place the suspect under arrest. The suspect was cited for the fare evasion and then booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail for resisting arrest. A sergeant responded to conduct the use of force investigation.
A victim reported the theft of her black 27-speed Soma Crosscheck road bike. The bike was secured with a cable and U-lock at 0850 hours and when the victim returned at 2157 hours, the bike and locks were gone.
Officers responded to investigate a report of a suspicious person on a train at West Oakland Station. Officers detained the suspect and determined that she was wanted on a no bail warrant for possession of narcotics out of Marin County. The suspect was arrested and booked for the warrant.
Officers encountered a disturbance between a system service worker and an intoxicated male. The male was determined to be too intoxicated to care for himself and also had a $2,500 warrant for public intoxication. The male was booked into the Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication and the warrant.
A victim reported that their vehicle was entered via unknown means and the ignition was damaged in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. The attempt took place while the vehicle was parked in the lot between 1730-2330 hours.
A report was received that a male on the lead car of a train was possibly masturbating. An officer intercepted the train and detained the man, but no one came forward to make a complaint. Record checks showed that the man had an outstanding no-bail arrest warrant for robbery, held by SFPD. The man was arrested on his warrant and was booked at Glenn Dyer Jail.
