A patron reported that their black 2003 Chevy Tahoe was burglarized while parked in stall #130, in lot A, between 1100-2300 hours. An unknown suspect punched the passenger door lock to gain entry and stole the stereo, amplifier and speakers.

Officers responded to a reported of a male juvenile in possession of gun in front of the station. The juvenile did not appear to be nervous and was not threatening anyone with the weapon. Union City Police arrived at the scene, recovered a gun from the juvenile without incident, and then turned the case over to BART Police. The juvenile, who had no prior history of violence, was placed under arrest for possession of a firearm. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest and interview the juvenile. TSOC notified.

 Failure to Identify/Resisting Arrest/Parole Violation

Union City - 1405-1758

While on patrol, an officer observed and detained a subject for fare evasion. During the detention, the officer determined that the suspect gave him several false names. At one point the officer had to use physical force (take down to the ground) when the suspect resisted the detention. The officer ultimately placed the subject in handcuffs and under arrest. The officer contacted the California Department of Corrections who then placed a parole hold the subject. A search of the suspect yielded the discovery of narcotics paraphernalia. The subject was arrested and booked into the Santa Rita Jail for his violating his parole, giving a false name to a peace officer, resisting arrest, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. A sergeant approved the arrest and conducted a use of force investigation.

 Grand Theft (Generator)

Union City - 1404-4693

A construction site supervisor reported the theft of a Honda generator from the Union City BART Station. The reported loss is a large Honda "wheel barrel" generator with a value of $4,500. The generator was chained to a large Conex Box. The theft occurred between 1530 hours on 4/25/14, and 0700 hours on 4/28/14. An unknown suspect cut a security fence separating BART from Amtrak and entered the construction site. The chain securing the generator to the Conex Box was cut and the generator removed. An officer responded to take the grand theft report. The officer check for fingerprints but no evidence was located on scene. The officer contacted Union City PD to determine if they have video cameras in the area.

 Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia/Warrant Arrest

Officers responded to the station regarding a female subject reportedly urinating while aboard a train. The subject, who was in the company of second (male) subject, was detained shortly after the train’s arrival. During this time, the male subject voluntarily provided his name to the officers and a subsequent warrants check revealed he was wanted on two outstanding misdemeanor BART Police warrants: one warrant charging a violation of a court order – with a bail amount of $5K - and the second charging a single count of disturbing the peace – with a bail amount of $2500.00. The male subject was placed under arrest for the warrants, and a search incident to arrest revealed he was also in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. A sergeant responded to approve the arrest and debrief the subject. Subsequently, the subject was booked into the county jail for the outstanding warrants and for possessing narcotics paraphernalia. NOTE: The female subject was released as no complainant came forward.

A victim reported his green 1994 Chevrolet truck was burglarized while it was parked and locked in stall #466, between 0700-1520 hours. Officers determined entry was made into the vehicle by defeating the locking mechanism of the truck-bed’s shell. Several items were taken from the truck bed, including a mountain bike and sunglasses. An officer investigated the case and completed a report.

A subject detained by an officer for fare evasion was found to have an outstanding $50K misdemeanor petty theft warrant, issued by the San Francisco Police Department. The subject was placed under arrest for the warrant and issued a citation for fare evasion. A sergeant responded to approve the arrest and debrief the subject. Subsequently, the subject was booked into the county jail for the warrant.

A victim reported that they parked and locked their vehicle (a blue 1999 Toyota Camry) in parking stall 481 on 4/6/14, at 2300 hours. The victim then returned today at 0830 hours to find their vehicle had been burglarized by unknown means, and $700 worth of personal property (i.e., gym equipment, Bose headphones, and books) had been stolen. The officer did not process the vehicle for fingerprints.

An officer detained a male suspect for fare evasion. Record checks showed that the man had three outstanding arrest warrants: $75,000 for reckless driving, held by Pasadena PD; $100,000 for driving under the influence, held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - Palmdale; and no-bail for theft, held by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - Lancaster. The man was arrested on his warrants, cited for fare evasion and booked at Santa Rita Jail.

Officers responded to a report of a man who was chasing people around the parking lot with a knife. Upon further investigation, it was determined that a person approached four people and threatened them with a knife. Witnesses stated the suspect began chasing the victims with the knife until he was detained by Union City Police. No one was injured, and the suspect was placed under arrest for brandishing a weapon in a threatening manner and for making threats. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest and interview the suspect, who denied threatening anyone. The suspect was also issued a 30 day BART prohibition order. TSOC notified.

 Trespassing on Railroad Property/Parole Violation

A male suspect forced his way into the train operator's cab of a Richmond bound train and refused to leave. The train operator was not injured. Power was dropped and BART and Union City officers responded. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. It appeared that the suspect was under the influence of controlled substances and was having some type of psychotic episode. There was no damage to the train and no injuries to anyone. The suspect was transported to the hospital for evaluation. When medically cleared, he will be booked for trespassing on railroad property and for parole violation. NCRIC and TSOC notified. There was an approximate 25 minute delay in service on the A2 line.

A patron parked, locked, and left their vehicle in stall 141 at 0700 hours. The patron returned at 1815 hours and discovered that their vehicle had been burglarized. The driver’s side quarter window was smashed. The loss was softball equipment. The victim vehicle is a 2008 Audi Q7 gray in color. The owner requested that the vehicle not be dusted for prints.

A victim reported the theft of his white Mongoose Ledge 21 speed mountain bike (no serial numbers) from the Union City Station.  Loss was estimated at $200.00.  The victim parked his bike on 9/12 at 0800 hours and returned on 9/13 at 0700 hours and discovered his bike was gone.  The bike was secured to the south bike rack using a cable lock.  No evidence was located at the scene.

A victim reported that they locked their bicycle (a maroon Trek Track mountain bike, no serial number) to the free area bike racks on 08/16/13, at 0900 hours.  The bicycle was secured with a cable lock.  The victim returned later that evening at 1800 hours to find their bicycle and cable lock gone. The estimated value of the bike is $100.

An officer responded to the station in order to perform a welfare check upon an adult male who had reportedly urinated on himself while aboard a Richmond-bound train.  Upon contact, the officer determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for his own safety due to alcohol consumption.  The officer also learned the subject was wanted for two outstanding warrants.  One of the warrants, issued by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, charged a single count of DUI/no bail and the other, issued by BART Police, charged a single count of public intoxication and a total bail amount of $5,000.  The officer placed the subject under arrest without incident, and a sergeant responded to approve the arrest and debrief the subject.  The subject was then transported to the Hayward City Jail where he was booked for public intoxication and the two warrants.
