A patron reported seeing a male and a female involved in a physical altercation with each other in the parking lot. The male and female then entered the station and went up to the platform. Trains were held while officers responded to conduct the investigation. Officers were able to contact both the male and female, who denied any battery occurred. The witness had left the area. Both parties were identified and neither displayed any injury. They agreed to board separate trains. Trains were held for 16 minutes as a result of the response/investigation.
A woman reported that a male suspect snatched her purse (containing a cell phone and $90) in the parking lot. The suspect fled southbound towards Union Square. The victim was not injured. An officer responded. He located the victim’s property, except for the cash. (suspect description: B-M, 20-30, 5-3, black-hooded jacket, black pants or blue jeans)
Union City police officers responded to the station to look for two suspects who committed an armed robbery at the Rite-Aid store in Union City and ran toward the station. Trains were held for 21 minutes as officers searched for the suspects with negative results. 1112-1778 L12.
A warrant check on a person detained for fare evasion revealed outstanding arrest warrants for vandalism, DUI, and violation of court orders totaling $20,000. The subject was arrested on the warrants and booked at Hayward Jail. 1111-0654 L12.
An officer contacted a man for fare evasion. The suspect resisted being detained, fought with the officer, and was pepper sprayed. The suspect was determined to have an outstanding $3,000 Fremont misdemeanor warrant for threatening public officers and employees. The suspect was debriefed by a sergeant, cited for fare evasion, and booked into Santa Rita Jail for battery on a peace officer, resisting/obstructing/delaying a peace officer, and on the warrant.
An officer contacted a subject for the unauthorized use of a discount ticket. The suspect initially provided false ID to the officer. Upon determining his real name, it was determined he had two outstanding (extradite able) warrants out of Missouri for probation violation and drugs. The suspect was cited for the ticket violation and arrested on the warrants. While being processed for booking at the Hayward station, the suspect attempted to flee but was immediately apprehended. Two cover officers were on scene and a Sergeant subsequently responded to the scene. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on the warrants, for resisting arrest, and providing false identification to a peace officer.
The A-plt. watch commander granted permission for the K-9 sergeant and two K-9 officers to respond to a request from Union City police for assistance. Union City police were searching a residential neighborhood for four suspects who had fired upon their police officers. BART police K-9s searched backyards and a residence between 1309 and 0015 hrs.
A female reported she was sexually assaulted at a residence in the city of Fremont and dropped off at the Union City Station. The female stated she is a friend of the male suspect. Fremont Police and American Medical Response were notified and responded to the scene. Fremont Police took possession of the investigation.
An adult male attacked the station agent near the booth. The agent was punched twice in the face and kicked. The suspect fled to the platform. Trains were held out of the station while officers responded. The suspect then fled the station just before officers arrived and was eventually taken into custody by Union City PD officers across the street from the station. The agent declined medical treatment, but had slight swelling to his face. The suspect was booked for battery on a station agent.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a male sleeping across two seats on the train. Officers determined that the male had a valid stay away order from BART. The male was booked at Santa Rita Jail for violation of a stay away order.
A 24-year-old man reported that an 18-year-old man robbed him of a dollar in the bus zone and shoved him. An officer detained the suspect. The detective sergeant assisted in the investigation. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail for robbery. The victim was not injured.
Detectives conducting follow-up investigation at a high school near Union City Station arrested and booked the female juvenile suspect in this case for assault with a deadly weapon. The female was booked at Alameda County Juvenile Hall.
Two female juveniles became involved in a physical fight at the station, following an incident at a nearby high school. One of the females struck the other multiple times with a padlock, then kicked her in the head. Follow-up investigation with Union City police school resource officers identified the suspect. The case has been referred to detectives for additional investigation.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a battery in the station parking lot. Responding officers located a male being forcibly detained by a group of citizens. BART officers took custody of the male and began an initial investigation. The investigation revealed the male may have committed a lewd act on a small child in the Dollar Store located in the shopping mall across from the station. The child's parents discovered the male possibly sexually assaulting their daughter and, along with other citizens in the area, chased him to the BART parking lot. The case was turned over to Union City PD for further investigation.
Two adult males were reportedly fighting in front of the station. One male received a bump on the head, while the other male was bitten on the face. Responding officers determined that the two were cohabitants and engaged in a relationship. Both were booked at Santa Rita Jail for domestic violence.
While walking through the lot, two male suspects approached an adult male victim and asked to borrow his cell phone. The victim was fearful and handed over the phone. The suspects started to walk away and the victim asked for the phone back. The suspects threatened to harm the victim if he followed them or sought help. The suspects left the area on foot while the victim went to the station to report the crime. The suspects were described as: #1 - Black male adult, 20's, 5'8", thin build, wearing a black baseball cap, black and red sweater and blue jeans and #2 - Hispanic male adult, 20's, 5', short hair, muscular build, wearing a black beanie, black hooded sweater and black jeans. Responding officers were not able to locate the suspects.
A female victim was walking to her car in the lot when she noticed that she was being followed by male. As she entered her vehicle, the male asked for her phone. When she refused to hand the phone over, the male pushed his way into her car and forcibly removed her iPhone from her hand. The male was described as a black male juvenile, approximately 16 years old, small build, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. The male fled the area on foot and was not located during an area search by officers. The victim was not injured during the incident.
The station agent called BART Police to report that there was an adult male suspect at the station who was challenging the agent to a fight. As officers responded, the agent called back to report that the suspect had attempted to strike him and had spat on him. The suspect fell to the ground during the scuffle and injured his head and was transported to the hospital for his injury and extreme intoxication. The station agent was not injured and a complaint will be sought against the suspect for disturbing the peace and battery on a BART employee.
A 19 year old male was attacked from behind in the parking lot by six Hispanic males who took his shoes and wallet. The victim stated he was knocked unconscious for a brief period of time and that his jaw was injured. The suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of responding officers. The victims shoes and wallet (empty) were located in a trash can nearby.
A warrant check on a male subject detained for fare evasion resulted in a felony no-bail parole violation arrest warrant. The subject was arrested for the warrant, and booked at the Santa Rita Jail. 0912-2204 L12.
Officers responded to the station after Union City Police received numerous calls of as many as 25-30 juveniles possibly fighting fighting in front of the station and making their way towards the city streets. Union City P.D. also dispatched units to the scene, which stablized when BART and Union City officers arrived. No arrests were made.
Witnesses saw an adult male deliberately step off the platform and was struck by an oncoming train. The subject was pronounced dead 30 minutes later. The station was closed for over 2 hours for scene investigation and service restoration. There are no signs of criminal activity at this time. 0911-0037 L12.
A male suspect detained for fare evasion was arrested after he was found to have five outstanding warrants for various offenses including possession of dangerous weapons and narcotics. The male was booked at Santa Rita Jail for the warrants.
An armed robbery was reported to have occurred some time between 1200 and 1400 hrs. The loss was reported to be a cellular phone and cash. The investigation continues pending contact with the victim.
