South San Francisco Police received a report of a juvenile in possession of a gun on the platform at the station. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a maroon jacket and black pants. Trains were delayed for 12 minutes while officers searched a train and detained a person matching the description given as well as recovering an Air soft handgun under the seat of the same train car the suspect was detained. After a thorough investigation, there were no victims and no witnesses came forward to identify the subject. The juvenile subject was reprimanded for possession of a replica handgun and released to a relative. TSOC notified.
An officer located a 2003 Infinity with its driver’s side door rear window shattered and the rear passenger slightly ajar. He was unable to determine any loss and processed the vehicle for evidence. Items of values were removed to be stored in the police office. A note was left for the victim.
CAP team officers responded to the Civic Center Station on a report of a female who was chasing a suspect who had just burglarized her vehicle into the station. Upon their arrival, the officers detained both the suspect and victim and turned the case over to San Francisco Police.
A 15-year-old boy reported that a male suspect robbed him of his i-phone in the station at about 2140 hrs. The suspect said that he needed to use the phone. The intimidated victim gave it to him. The suspect gave the phone back. The suspect then demanded the phone, said that he did not want to have to fight for it, and claimed to have a gun. The frightened victim gave the suspect the phone again. The victim believes that the suspect may have escaped on a San Francisco train. The victim was not injured. (suspect description: B-M, 19-20 years, short hair, 5-8, black t-shirt, faded-black jeans)
A patron parked and locked his bicycle at about 10:15 using a bike rack located in the plaza between the parking structure and the apartments. When the patron returned at 20:20, he discovered that some unknown suspect had cut the cable lock and removed the bike without his permission.
South San Francisco Police Department received a report of a male with what appeared to be the butt of a gun in his waistband in front of the station. South San Francisco PD officers responded and searched a north bound train at the station with negative results. BART PD officers also searched another north bound train at the 24th Street Station and the surrounding area with negative results. The suspect was described as 6'1", unshaven and wearing a knit beanie and a camouflage jacket. The two trains were delayed for 8 minutes as a result of the search.
A suicidal man reported to the station agent that he wanted to commit suicide on the tracks at the station. Trains were held out of the station until BART Police arrived and declared the station safe. An ambulance was summoned and transported the subject to Peninsula Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. There was an eleven minute train delay.
7/4/11 - 0312 A fully marked BART Police vehicle with its rear flashing lights on was parked at 5th & Market Street in San Francisco when it was rammed from behind by a vehicle. Three BART Officers that were inside the police vehicle and a BART Sergeant that was outside the vehicle were injured when the car struck the parked police vehicle. An ambulance was summoned and officers were treated at the scene for what appear to be minor injuries. San Francisco Police responded to take the collision, report # 110-536-028. The police vehicle received moderate damage and had to be towed to the Oakland Shops facility.
The on duty agent observed a suspect fare evade into the station. The agent flagged down an on-duty Officer who attempted to detain the suspect. The suspect became aggressive and squared off on the Officer to fight. The suspect then left the station. The Officer waited for his cover unit before he conducted an area search. They located the suspect in the bus zone and handcuffed him without incident. As they walked the suspect back to the sub-station, he resisted and had to be taken to the ground. An Officer sustained a minor cut to his right palm and was treated at the scene by paramedics. The suspect was medically cleared and booked into the Redwood City jail for fare evasion and resisting arrest.
An adult female had her iPhone taken by a suspect who snatched the phone from her hands and fled with the loss up to the city streets. The victim and some unidentified bystanders attempted to stop the suspect from taking the phone, but he was able to forcibly take the phone before fleeing. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as a Hispanic Male, 5'5" tall, 210 pounds (thick build), wearing a light colored shirt, tan jacket and dark hat.
A female juvenile reported having been punched ten times in the head and face by another female juvenile on 11-18-10, requiring hospitalization. The suspect is known to the victim and the investigation is on-going at this time. 1011-2623 L12.
BART PD officers assisted South San Francisco PD officers in searching trains for a 31-year-old male suspect wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and attempted murder. The suspect, who was believed to be enroute to the East Bay, was not located. Five trains were held and searched during a 35-minute span.
Officers responded to a report of an adult male running on the right-of-way between South San Francisco and San Bruno stations. An hour long search to locate the person proved negative, and there was no delay in service. 1011-1927 L12.
Officers driving in San Francisco came upon a woman who was standing on a 6th floor window ledge threatening to jump. The officers assisted with crowd control and attempting to convince the woman to come inside from the ledge. San Francisco Police and Fire responded and took over the incident.
A K9 officer assisted in the arrest of a subject who broke a display and assaulted an employee of the Bristol Farms business establishment adjacent to Powell St. Station. The suspect was turned over to the SFPD.
Officers attempted to detain an adult male for fare evasion. The suspect attempted to flee on foot and fought with the officers to resist his detention and arrest. Officers discovered that the suspect was also in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and booked for the charges.
An off-duty BART Police officer, riding a train to work, observed an adult male who was yelling at other passengers while holding a hammer in a threatening manner. The suspect was detained without incident and cited for brandishing a weapon in a threatening manner.
An officer on patrol came upon an armed robbery in progress in San Francisco PD's jurisdiction. Two adult male suspects were robbing an adult male victim. The suspects fled on foot as the officer approached, but the officer conducted an area search and located one suspect hiding in a yard nearby. The suspect was arrested and turned over to SFPD.
Two male juveniles were arrested after they robbed a third juvenile of his cell phone. One suspect was armed with a knife while the other claimed to have a gun during the offense.
The San Francisco Police Department located an adult male who was reported missing from BART earlier in the day. The subject had been admitted to a hospital with a medical emergency from a location in San Francisco and there was no indication of foul play.
An officer on patrol of the parking structure discovered a female who had used a razor blade to cut her wrists in an attempt to commit suicide. The officer called for medical and provided first aid until medical arrived. The injuries were determined to not be life threatening, but the female was transported for treatment and a psychiatric hold.
A CSO watching the closed circuit TV monitors observed an adult female in the act of stealing a license plate off of a car parked in the lot. The suspect then drove off in a vehicle which was later determined to have a stolen plate attached to it. The suspect admitted to the license plate theft to the arresting officer and also to possessing stolen property (the stolen plate attached to her car). The suspect was booked on the above charges.
BPD officers assisted in the search of two armed robbery suspects who struck inside the Westfield Mall. One suspect was captured near the cable car turnaround with possibly one other remaining at large.
A male adult struck another male adult in eye with his fist at the station as a result of a verbal dispute that had occurred off District property. The victim received medical treatment for a cut on his eye, but was released at the scene. The suspect was arrested for battery, and booked at the Redwood City Jail. 0904-0072 L12.
The department's Tactical Team was deployed to downtown San Francisco Stations to address crowds participating in an anti-war demonstration and march which began at Justin Herman Plaza to Civic Center Plaza. An altercation at Civic Center Station at approximately 1447 hrs. between a group of protestors and another unknown group led to the arrest of four Black Block Group members inside Civic Center Station by the SFPD (0903-1966). The altercation started on the street level and continued into the free area of the station adjacent to the ticket vending machines. L18
