Victim reported the theft of his bicycle from the Rockridge BART Station.  Victim secured his bicycle to the bicycle rack with a cable lock on 07/15/12, at 1324 hours.  Victim returned at 2100 hours and discovered his bicycle was missing.

A patron reported that their Honda Accord was burglarized while parked in the parking lot between 1630 hours on 7/14 and 1350 hours on 7/15.  The window was smashed to gain entry and a bag of dirty clothes was taken.  The vehicle was processed for prints.

Disturbance on Train

Rockridge - 1207-1878

A patron on board the Pittsburg bound train approaching Rockridge Station reported two men fighting, with one of the men holding the other down on the train floor.  Responding officers determined that one of the men had been creating a disturbance on the train.  Multiple patrons attempted to detain the man by blocking him into a corner on the train, but the man was able to escape.  The man left the station and officers were unable to locate him.  There was no merit to the original fight call.  The Pittsburg train was held approximately 14 minutes as a result of this incident.

A lieutenant and officers responded to a report of four intoxicated male adults creating a disturbance aboard a Pittsburg/Bay Point train.  The four men, and two women accompanying them, were off-boarded at the station.  One man  was found to have a $20,000 Burbank police misdemeanor warrant for being an unlicensed driver.  The suspect was arrested on the warrant and booked into Glenn Dyer Jail.  The other subjects were identified and released.  No patrons came forward wishing to file a complaint against the subjects.

A patron reported that her 2000 Honda CRV was burglarized while parked in the west lot of the station.  She parked and locked the vehicle at 0730 hours and when she returned at 1354, she noticed that the passenger window was smashed and the stereo face plate was missing.  The vehicle was photographed, but the victim declined to have the vehicle processed for prints.

While on patrol an officer was contacted by a victim who reported her 2002 Specialized brand, 17 speed, Unisex road bike taken.  She locked the bike using a U-Bolt lock and cable lock at 0810 hours in the bike racks on the west side of College Ave.  Upon her return at 1730 hours the bike, lock and helmet were missing.  Total value of the loss is $225.

A BART Officer contacted a victim via telephone who reported her black 1999 Honda CRV had the driver’s side window smashed, and the interior ransacked while parked at Rockridge.  No known loss was detected.  The Officer inspected the lower parking lot and found two other vehicles with smashed out windows and ransacked interiors.  As of this posting, the other two victims have not returned to their vehicles.  The other vehicles are a 2001 Honda Accord and a 2006 Honda Civic.    1205-4161   L21.

A lieutenant, sergeant, and officers responded to a report of a robbery that occurred on a Pittsburg/Bay Point train.  They met a male-juvenile victim who pointed out two male-juvenile suspects.  The victim and his friends had managed to recover the loss, an Apple i-phone, which had been pulled out of the victim’s hands after a struggle.  One suspect was arrested for robbery and released on a citation to his parents, due to a medical issue.  The other suspect was arrested for possession of stolen property and for a Reno, NV, robbery warrant, and  booked into juvenile hall.  Detectives interviewed the suspects.  There was a 15-minute train delay.

A victim reported, via phone, that on May 9, 2012 his 1998 Honda Civic had been broken into.  He stated he parked the vehicle in stall #552 at 0730 hours.  Upon his return at 1730 hours he opened his trunk and saw that property was missing.  He entered the interior of his vehicle and saw that more property was missing from his center console and glove box.  The method of entry is unknown.  Missing property included the vehicles registration, a mountaineering backpack, miscellaneous tools, a digital camera, sunglasses and approximately $100 worth of coins.  The vehicle was not processed for evidence due to the crime being reported over the phone.

Train Delay/Suspicious Circumstance

A male patron reported that two adult males (W-M, 20’s, wearing a white shirt; O-M, 20’s, wearing a blue shirt) may have broken into a vehicle parked in the north lot.  The reporting party subsequently advised that the subjects appeared to be heading towards the station building.  Trains ran through the station without stopping for 5 minutes (from 1903-1908 hrs.) until the station agent was reached and confirmed that no one matching the subjects’ description had entered the station.  The reporting party then advised that he had not seen entry being made to the vehicle, and that the vehicle may have belonged to one of the subjects.  Officers located the vehicle.  It did not appear to have been forcibly entered or damaged.  The subjects were not located.

A patron reported her green 1993 Acura Legend 4 door had been burglarized while it was parked and locked in parking lot stall #177 on 2/28/12 between 0800-1830 hours.  All four doors were unlocked and the trunk was slightly ajar. The victim said 4 CDs, 2 jackets, and a pair of shoes were taken from the trunk. The battery had also been disconnected from the vehicle. There was no visible damage, and the victim refused the officer’s request to have the vehicle processed for evidence or photos taken. 1202-4000 L12.

 Suspicious Person / Psychiatric Detention

BART Central reported a male subject who was verbally harassing patrons on a train; off-boarded at the Rockridge station and appeared to be under the influence.  The subject was running back and forth on the platform in a panic-like manner.  Trains were held.  At one time, the subject dangled his legs over the platform edge and track way.  An officer responded to the station and attempted to contact the subject, who promptly ran from the officer.  The subject ran down to the concourse-level and was pursued, and subsequently detained by the officer near the station agent’s booth.  The officer determined the subject was a danger to himself and was detained for a psychiatric evaluation.  The detainee was transported to Highland Hospital by responding medical personnel for a psychiatric evaluation.   The detainee has an extensive history of psychiatric detentions with our Department over the last year.

 Disturbing the Peace/Warrant Arrest

A caller reported several males involved in a disturbance on the platform.  Responding officers detained two men for disturbing the peace.  Record checks revealed one of the men had an outstanding no-bail arrest warrant for drunk driving issued by Albany PD.  The man was arrested and booked on his warrant at Glenn Dyer Jail.

A female patron had her laptop computer taken from her lap while seated on the platform.  The suspect, described as a black male, 30-40 years old, with a graying beard, was wearing a beanie hat, a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.  The suspect fled from the station in an unknown direction and an area check by responding officers was unsuccessful.  The victim was not injured.

An adult male victim was walking in the southwest corner of the south parking lot at the station at about 2130 hours.  Two black males in their late teens, one tall wearing dark clothes and a shorter one also wearing dark clothes appeared from between two parked cars and demanded the victims’ property.  The taller suspect then pulled out a gun and cocked the hammer.  The victim was frightened and gave the suspects his wallet containing no money, iPhone, and back pack with school books.  The suspects ordered the victim to turn around and the victim did so and walked back toward the station.  The victim would be able to recognize the taller suspect if seen again.  The Oakland Police Department was originally called to this robbery and they called BART to the scene to take it over.  Oakland Officers told the BART Officers that there was a similar robbery not too far away and shortly after our robbery with similar suspects.  TSOC was notified.

Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated male suspect harassing patrons on a train.  The northbound train was held at the Rockridge station.  The officers made contact with the subject, who was passed out on the train.  The officers determined the subject was intoxicated in public, unable to care for his own safety and subsequently arrested for such.  The suspect was booked at the Glenn Dyer jail facility.

A patron parked and secured his vehicle at the station at 0730 hours. At approximately 1900 hours, the California Highway Patrol Auto Theft Task Force called him and advised that his vehicle was at a resident in Oakland, where they were serving a search warrant. The patron was not aware that his vehicle was no longer at the station (unreported stolen). The victim then proceeded to the station to file a stolen vehicle report.
