A female victim reported that she was walking on the BART pathway at the El Cerrito Station when a Hispanic male, early 30's, wearing a red shirt and khaki pants with sunglasses ran up behind her and grabbed her buttocks and vagina area between her legs.  The victim protested, and the suspect repeatedly said that he was "just saying hello."  Officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate the suspect.  The victim stated that she could identify the suspect.  There are no surveillance cameras covering the area of the incident.

A man reported that his Specialized mountain bicycle had been stolen today between 0830-1825 hrs.  The cable lock which had secured the bicycle was also stolen.

 Assault with a Deadly Weapon

The station agent called to report hearing gun shots near the station.  Shortly after the initial call, the agent called back to say there was a male with a gunshot wound at the station (bus zone area).  Officers and medical attention arrived and the victim was transported to a local hospital by way of helicopter.  The suspects were not located.  Investigators and ID technicians responded and the investigation is on-going.  The station was closed and trains were held out briefly.  Trains were eventually allowed to run through until the station was reopened at 1330 hours.  TSOC was notified.

A victim reported the theft of two catalytic converters from his Toyota Sequoia.  The theft occurred while the vehicle was parked at the station between 0545-1045 hours.

Patrons reported a male suspect on a Richmond bound train who was moving from car to car and panhandling.  Responding officers intercepted the train and contacted the suspect on board.  Record checks showed that the suspect had an outstanding, no-bail arrest warrant for parole violation held by the Department of Corrections.  The man was arrested on his outstanding warrant and booked at the Martinez Jail.

A patron called to make a phone report regarding his 2000 Toyota Echo being burglarized on 5/14.  The vehicle was parked in the west lot at 0820 hours and when the victim returned at 1820 hours, the stereo was missing.  The rear passenger door was discovered to be unlocked and there were no signs of forced entry, so the victim is unsure how entry was gained.

An argument between a couple escalated when the male punched the female in the stomach as they walked down a stairwell from the San Francisco platform.  The suspect then fled from the station.  BART and El Cerrito officers searched for the suspect, including two addresses where he is known to reside, but met with negative results.  The victim, who was not injured and did not require medical attention, was transported to a safe location by the investigating officer.  The suspect is described as follows:  Black male; 6’1” tall; brown hair and brown eyes; slender build; last seen wearing a grey/black colored checkered jacket and blue jeans.

 Theft From Person (Cell Phone)

A female victim reported the theft of her white Samsung Galaxy 2 (no serial number or tracking software available) from her person.  The victim was standing in the bus zone when a male suspect (20's, facial hair, black "puffy" jacket, red checked shirt, blue jeans) removed her cell phone from her sweatshirt pocket and fled south from the station.  The loss was reported as $200.00.  El Cerrito PD was advised and station video was requested.

A victim reported her 1991 white Honda Civic was burglarized while it was parked and locked at the station between 0740-1620 hours. Entry was made via the driver door and miscellaneous items were taken from inside the vehicle. Photos were taken and the victim did not wish do have his vehicle processed for fingerprints.

A victim reported her $120.00 black 7-speed mountain bike was stolen while it was parked and secured with a cable lock at the station between 0900-1800 hours.  The victim did not know the bike’s make, model or serial number.  There is no video recording capability in the area of the theft.

A male called requesting to be taken to a mental institution.  When officers arrived, they determined that the man did not qualify for emergency psychiatric evaluation, but that he did have a probation condition requiring that he stay away from all BART property.  The man was arrested for violation of a court order and booked at Martinez Jail.

A patron reported by phone that their green 1999 Honda Civic was burglarized between 0700-1500 hours, while parked in stall #556.  An unknown suspect apparently used a shaved key to gain entry and then removed the in-dash stereo and an iPod from the interior.

Officers responded to the station on a report of a person in possession of altered BART tickets and carrying a knife. After a positive identification was made by the reporting party, a search of the person upon detention resulted in the recovery of suspected rock cocaine. The person, identified as Johnnie Caldwell (B/M 12/24/68), was placed under arrest for possession of narcotics. No altered tickets were found in the suspect’s possession. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest and interview the suspect.

Two victims were robbed at gunpoint as they were walking in the north parking lot. After taking a victim’s wallet, the suspects fled from the station via the Ohlone pathway.  One suspect had a semi-automatic handgun and the other had a black revolver. Although the victims were not injured, a shooting took place a short time thereafter on the Ohlone pathway in El Cerrito’s jurisdiction. Detectives were called out, and the Video Hotline was notified.

Victim reported her 1997 Honda Accord, 6FAF052 CA. broken into, ransacked, the ignition damaged and $2.00 in cash taken.  This occurred while the vehicle was parked in stall #664 between 0730 and 1710 hours.  Photos were taken but the victim refused to have the vehicle fingerprinted.

Victim reported that her black KHS Urban Express bicycle was stolen sometime between 1840 hours on 10/19 and 0820 hours on 10/20.  The bicycle had been secured with a cable lock which was found on the ground near where the bicycle was parked.
