A female victim reported on 11/18/13, she was in the bus zone at 1930 hours and had her purse stolen containing her pay check.  The female had set her purse down next to a bench in the bus zone and chased after her 5 year old child.  When she returned to the bench, her purse was gone.  No one was in the immediate area and she did not see anyone take her purse.  Loss was reported as a Marc Jacobs purse ($500) and her paycheck ($360).  An officer took the report and requested video from the station.

An officer was flagged down by the victim of a bike theft.  The victim reported that their red and white Giant Iguana 15-speed bike was stolen from the racks between 1735-2150 hours.  The victim secured the bike with a cable lock.

A warrant check on a man detained for reportedly urinating on the platform revealed an active stay away court order from the El Cerrito Plaza station. The subject was placed under arrest for violation of a court order. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest and debrief the suspect.

A victim reported the theft of her purple/green Trek 920 men's mountain bike (unknown serial number and value).  The bike was secured to the north bike racks at 2200 hours on 10/23/13.  The victim returned at 1220 hours on 10/24/13 and discovered the bike was gone.  An unknown suspect had cut the cable lock and had stolen the bike.  An officer responded to take a report and to check for evidence but with negative results.

A victim reported two of her bicycles were stolen while cable locked at the bike racks between 0730-1600 hours. The bicycles were described as a $1,000 blue and green Novara Fusion 21 speed women’s bicycle, and a $600 gray and brown Novara Jaunt 21 speed women’s bicycle.

 Petty Theft (Catalytic Converter)

El Cerrito Plaza - 1309-4029

A victim reported the theft of their catalytic converter from their red 1994 Isuzu Rodeo while it was parked at the El Cerrito Plaza.  The victim parked at 0720 hours in stall #48 (west lot) and returned at 1650 hours to discover their loss.  Loss was estimated at $300.00.  The converter was unbolted and removed from the vehicle.  The bolts used to secure the converter were left on scene.  The bolts and vehicle were checked for prints but with negative results.  An officer completed a report.

 Battery on a Transit Passenger Arrest/Prohibition Order Issued

El Cerrito Plaza - 1309-3094

A female patron reported that a male suspect punched her in the back of the head as she was walking down the stairs from the platform.  She does not know the male and has no idea why he hit her.  A witness also saw the battery.  Once on the concourse level, the suspect squared off at her as if he were going to hit her again, but the station agent and another patron approached and the suspect fled the area. The suspect was located nearby by responding officers.  Both the witness and the victim identified him as the responsible and placed him under citizen's arrest for battery on a transit passenger.  The male suspect was issued a prohibition order before being booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for the battery charge.  The victim, who suffered some soreness to the back of her head, refused medical attention at the scene, but said that she would seek her own treatment if needed.

A patron reported the theft of her pink 10-speed women’s mountain bike, valued at $400.  The victim secured the bike to the exterior racks, near Central Avenue, with a cable lock at 0930 hours.  When the victim returned, at 2331 hours, the bike was gone.  The investigating officerrequested station video.

A female victim seated on a bench on the south side of the station had her Samsung Galaxy phone stolen from her hand.  The suspect was described as a black male, 18-20 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and riding a dark colored bike.  The suspect fled southbound on the Ohlone Greenway.  Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect.  The victim was not injured.

A female victim reported that she was walking on the BART pathway at the El Cerrito Station when a Hispanic male, early 30's, wearing a red shirt and khaki pants with sunglasses ran up behind her and grabbed her buttocks and vagina area between her legs.  The victim protested, and the suspect repeatedly said that he was "just saying hello."  Officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate the suspect.  The victim stated that she could identify the suspect.  There are no surveillance cameras covering the area of the incident.

The station agent called to report hearing gun shots near the station.  Shortly after the initial call, the agent called back to say there was a male with a gunshot wound at the station (bus zone area).  Officers and medical attention arrived and the victim was transported to a local hospital by way of helicopter.  The suspects were not located.  Investigators and ID technicians responded and the investigation is on-going.  The station was closed and trains were held out briefly.  Trains were eventually allowed to run through until the station was reopened at 1330 hours.  TSOC was notified.

Patrons reported a male suspect on a Richmond bound train who was moving from car to car and panhandling.  Responding officers intercepted the train and contacted the suspect on board.  Record checks showed that the suspect had an outstanding, no-bail arrest warrant for parole violation held by the Department of Corrections.  The man was arrested on his outstanding warrant and booked at the Martinez Jail.

A patron called to make a phone report regarding his 2000 Toyota Echo being burglarized on 5/14.  The vehicle was parked in the west lot at 0820 hours and when the victim returned at 1820 hours, the stereo was missing.  The rear passenger door was discovered to be unlocked and there were no signs of forced entry, so the victim is unsure how entry was gained.

An argument between a couple escalated when the male punched the female in the stomach as they walked down a stairwell from the San Francisco platform.  The suspect then fled from the station.  BART and El Cerrito officers searched for the suspect, including two addresses where he is known to reside, but met with negative results.  The victim, who was not injured and did not require medical attention, was transported to a safe location by the investigating officer.  The suspect is described as follows:  Black male; 6’1” tall; brown hair and brown eyes; slender build; last seen wearing a grey/black colored checkered jacket and blue jeans.

A female victim reported the theft of her white Samsung Galaxy 2 (no serial number or tracking software available) from her person.  The victim was standing in the bus zone when a male suspect (20's, facial hair, black "puffy" jacket, red checked shirt, blue jeans) removed her cell phone from her sweatshirt pocket and fled south from the station.  The loss was reported as $200.00.  El Cerrito PD was advised and station video was requested.

Entry was made via the driver door and miscellaneous items were taken from inside the vehicle. Photos were taken and the victim did not wish do have his vehicle processed for fingerprints.
