Throwing Object at Train

Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre - 1603-0249

Patrons aboard a Pittsburg-bound train arriving at the station reported an unknown object striking and shattering a train-car window; no injuries were reported. Officers responded, but were unable to locate any potential suspects. The incident train was taken out of service, and repaired at the nearby BART yard. The train window appeared to have been damaged by a blunt object, possibly a rock, which did not penetrate the car’s interior. Based upon a witness statement, the investigating officer canvassed the area where the incident most likely occurred - for potential video evidence. As a result of this incident, train service on the C-line was delayed for approximately 8 minutes. TSOC notified.

The investigating officer responded, processed an item of evidence for fingerprints and completed a report.

Fare Evasion/Resisting Arrest

Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre - 1601-0779

Officers detained a male suspect for fare evasion. During the detention, the suspect refused to cooperate with lawful commands to the point where the officers used physical force to attempt to place him in handcuffs. The suspect, however, physically resisted their efforts and a struggle ensued. A segeant responded during this time and assisted in placing the suspect into handcuffs. Shortly after being handcuffed, the suspect further resisted officers’ efforts to place him in the rear of a patrol car. Paramedics eventually arrived at the station and treated the suspect, who claimed he was injured but who then declined further medical attention. Subsequently, the suspect was booked into the county jail for resisting arrest and issued a citation for fare evasion. A lieutenant responded to perform the use of force investigation. Two of the involved officers sustained minor injuries as result of this incident.

The sergeant was unable to locate any evidence of other crimes, so she was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrant.

Loss was $5.00 in change from the ash tray and the interior was searched, including bags. The officer processed the Honda for prints but did not locate any.
