A patron reported a man acting strangely on the top level of the parking structure. The man was standing near the edge and staring down at the ground and the patron was concerned that the man might be preparing to jump. Responding officers were able to gain the man's cooperation and determined he was a danger to himself. He was detained for psychological evaluation and taken to Contra Costa County Hospital for treatment.
A person informed the station agent he had just overdosed on Ambien and Morphine. The man became unconscious and was transported to John Muir Hospital for treatment. 1206-1646 L12.
A patron reported the theft of her green, mens 21-speed Diamond Back bicycle. She parked and locked it to the bike racks with a cable lock on 6/11 at 0815 hours and when she returned at 1830 hours, the bike and lock were gone.
An officer took a phone report from a victim who reported that the catalytic converter had been removed from his 1998 Toyota 4Runner, 4CWK741 CA. while parked in stall #2768 between 0714 and 1800 hours. The victim believes the part was cut off the exhaust system.
The bus driver of a County Connection bus placed her bag on a bench in the free area of the station. She walked away from the bag when the suspect exited the paid area of the station, walked over to the bag and took it. The suspect, described as a HM, late 20's to early 30's, wearing a blk baseball hat, walked back into the station and boarded a train. The suspect apparently off-boarded the train at the Walnut Creek Station and left the victim's bag on the train. The Walnut Creek station was checked for the suspect with negative results. The victim's bag was recovered by an officer and returned to her. The only loss was a small hand purse containing miscellaneous items and papers. Video surveillance was requested.
A bicycle owner reported the theft of a North Rock 21-speed mountain bike from the bike racks between 0730-1800 hrs. today. A cable lock had been used to secure the vehicle.
An officer was dispatched to check on a person who was reportedly sleeping on the train. A records check revealed a $15,000 traffic warrant for the male's arrest. The male was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrant.
A patron reported that his $100.00 blue men’s 21 speed Magna Great Divide mountain bike was stolen while it was parked and locked at the bicycle rack between 0600-1600 hours.
A patron reported his $200.00 21 speed Genesis V2100 mountain bicycle was taken while it was parked and locked at the bike rack between 1305-1710 hours.
A woman reported that her bicycle (Columbia brand, men’s mountain bike, 10-speed, 24-inch frame, blue in color) had been stolen on 04/25/12, between 0750-2130 hrs., from the bike rack behind the ticket machine.
A patron reported via telephone a catalytic converter taken from his 1998 Nissan Quest while it was parked and locked in the parking lot on 4/27/12 between 1000-1528 hours. 1204-3770 L12.
A female patron called to report a suspicious male on the train who was reaching into his pants and masturbating while staring at a female patron. Officers intercepted the train and made contact with the male suspect. The witness identified the suspect and placed him under citizen's arrest for committing a lewd act in public. The suspect has prior criminal history for similar offenses. The suspect told officers that he wished to harm himself, so he was placed on a psychiatric evaluation/hold. Once cleared/treated, he will be picked up for booking on the lewd act charge.
An officer on patrol spotted a 1992 Chevy pickup that was parked in space #1276 in the lower level of the parking structure and was listed as a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was processed for evidence and items were recovered that linked the vehicle to other auto burglaries in Contra Costa. The vehicle was released to the owner.
A woman reported that she had seen exposed wire in bushes at the station. An officer located the wire, which was protruding from an underground electrical box that was missing its cover. The officer placed the exposed wire back in the box. The officer contacted the Operations Control Center (OCC), which advised that electricians had been working at that location during the week. The OCC said that it would have an electrician respond with a lid to secure the wire within the box.
A patron made a cold report of a auto burglary that occurred the previous day at Pleasant Hill Station. The vehicle was parked between 07:00 to 17:00 in space #3099 on the second floor of the new parking structure. There was no sign of forced entry and the loss was $4 in coins.
A '86 Toyota pickup that was parked on the basement level of the parking structure was taken sometime between 06:30 and 19:30.
A patron parked his vehicle in the parking garage between 07:30 and 14:00. When the patron returned he discovered that some unknown suspect had slashed two of the tires on the driver's side of the vehicle. The victim vehicle is a 1994 Chrysler Concorde.
A train operator reported seeing a male standing on the platform, wearing a firearm in the back of his waistband. Officers responded and made contact with a male matching the description given. The male was determined to be an off-duty law enforcement officer who inadvertently exposed his concealed firearm. Trains were held out of the station until officers were able to respond and make contact with the man, resulting in a 23 minute train delay.
Pleasant Hill PD arrested a male suspect for vehicle burglary in their city. The suspect also damaged a vehicle at the Concord BART station, according to PHPD. An apparent victim vehicle was located at the Concord BART station, but the victim has not yet reported the crime. A BART officer responded to PHPD to interview the suspect. The suspect invoked his Miranda rights and refused to talk with PHPD regarding their burglary arrest. The suspect did speak with the BART officer and confessed to breaking a car window at the Concord BART station with his skateboard out of frustration with a friend, but never entered the vehicle. The PHPD case number is 12-695 and they arrested, and booked the suspect for auto burglary. This case will be forwarded to BART Detectives to seek charges in conjunction with PHPD’s arrest.
The station agent called to report a bicycle theft had just occurred at the station. The station agent stated the female victim saw the suspect taking her bicycle just after she had entered the station. The victim then confronted the suspect. The suspect gave the bicycle back to the victim willingly and left the station on foot. Suspect description: WM, older, gry beard, maroon shirt, grn pants. Officers responded and conducted an area search for the suspect with negative results. The victim’s bicycle cable lock was cut and was in the bicycle’s basket.
A habitual fare evader attempted to exit the station when the station agent made contact with the male. The male suspect became irate and began yelling at/cursing at the station agent. When an officer responded to the call, the suspect refused to stop for the officer and tried to walk away/avoid the officer by crossing over a foot bridge. Eventually, the officer was able to stop the suspect and make contact. The suspect, who is well known to the agent and officers in the area, was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for disturbing the peace and resisting/delaying an officer (likely to continue) and cited for fare evasion.
Patrons reported to the train operator of a San Francisco bound train of a black male chasing and attacking a white male on the train. The train was held at the Pleasant Hill station. Officers met the train and off-boarded the involved parties. Officers determined the black male suspect verbally threatened to fight the white male victim over a seat dispute. The victim declined to make a citizen’s arrest. The suspect provided the officers with a false name and was detained; and his true name was eventually learned. The suspect is on parole for theft and his parole agent was contacted by Officer Betters. The suspect was also in possession of two crack pipes. The suspect was arrested and booked for violation of parole, possession of drug paraphernalia and for providing false identification to officers. Sergeant Gil Lopez responded to the scene to debrief the suspect.
Officers received a report from the train operator of a male playing his radio loudly and refusing to turn it down. The subject, who was also banging on the train operator cab door, spit in the train operator’s face as he off boarded the train at the Pleasant Hill Station. The subject headed downstairs, then back upstairs across the next platform. Officers arrived at the scene and detained the subject, who was positively identified by the train operator and placed under arrest for battery. The suspect was booked at Martinez Jail. Trains were delayed at the station for 26 minutes. 1111-1697 L12.
Pleasant Hill Police advised dispatch that a suspect who stole some tires from Pep Boys earlier in the day was possibly en route to the Pleasant Hill Station. A station agent saw a subject matching the description given buying a ticket and going up to the platform. BART and Pleasant Hill police officers arrived at the station and placed the subject under arrest. 1110-1736 L12.
When a patron asked another passenger to turn down his music while on a Pittsburg bound train approaching the Pleasant Hill Station, the passenger responded by hitting the patron was his fists. The passenger became verbally abusive to the arriving officer and refused orders to off board the train. Other officers arrived, and the passenger was placed under arrest for battery and resisting a peace officer. The victim sustained no injuries and did not need medical attention. The passenger was booked at the Martinez Jail. 1109-3694 L12.
