An officer responded to a report of a battery that occurred in the station. It was reported that a female jumped on the back of a male subject and battered him. The attack was reportedly unprovoked. The officer, along with Berkeley Police officers, detained the subject (unidentified at this point) and had to use physical force to restrain her. The subject was transported to Alta Bates under a psychiatric detention and is to be booked for battery on a transit passenger once cleared. A sergeant responded to conduct a use of force investigation.
A victim reported that they locked their bicycle (a Transeo Hybrid Mountain/Road bicycle, 27 speed) to the bike racks on 3/6/15 at 0830 hours. The victim returned the next day at 0030 hours to find their bicycle gone. The estimated value of the bike is $350.
A patron reported today that their bike was stolen on 3/5/2015 between 0600-2200 hours . The loss was valued at $500.00 and is a men’s 15 speed 21 inch Trek brand bike maroon in color. U-Lock not cut, appears frame was cut.
An officer contacted an adult male for fare evasion and determined that he had a $20,000 warrant for threatening an officer. The male was warned for the fare evasion violation and booked into the Berkeley City Jail for the warrant.
A victim reported that they locked their bicycle (a white Cannondale 5, 8 speed road bike) to the bike racks at 0810 hours. The bicycle was secured with a cable lock. The victim returned at 1850 hours to find their bicycle gone. The estimated value of the bike is $500.00.
A traffic stop resulted in the recovery of a loaded firearm, money, and several packages of narcotics. The driver was placed under arrest for possession of narcotics for sales. The passenger was placed under arrest for possession of a loaded firearm. A sergeant approved the arrest.
While on patrol, a BART officer was flagged down by a citizen who reported that two male subjects had just stolen her phone from her back pants pocket. The officer spotted the two suspects who fled on bicycles. BART officers were eventually able to detain one of the suspects. The female victim positively identified the subject as the same suspect who took her phone early. Berkeley PD was advised and responded to take over the investigation.
A patron reported that their gray Raleigh Detour 21-speed road bike was stolen from the racks on the south side of the station, between 1100-2400 hours. The victim secured the bike with a U-lock and a chain. An officer located the bike near the station about two hours later. The U-lock was still in place, connecting the frame and wheel. It appeared the suspect cut the chain to remove the bike from the rack, but abandoned it when it could not be ridden. The bike was returned to the owner.
A victim reported the theft of their purple Mongoose brand men’s mountain bicycle, valued at $120.00, while it was U-locked at the station between 1315 and 1800 hours. An officer responded and completed a report.
A victim reported that they locked their bicycle (a Giant 21 speed bicycle) to the bike racks on 1/17/15 at 1750 hours. The victim returned on 1/18/15 at 0930 hours to find their bicycle gone. The estimated value of the bike is $800.
A patron reported that their silver 2004 Toyota Tacoma was burglarized while parked in stall #388, between 1200 hours on 12/23/14 and 2250 hours today. An unknown suspect smashed the left rear window to gain entry and stole several items of clothing.
An officer detained a male subject for creating a disturbance while on platform level. During this time, the officer determined the subject was too intoxicated to care for his own safety and placed him under arrest for public intoxication. A subsequent warrants’ check of the subject also revealed an outstanding $5K misdemeanor theft warrant, held by the San Bruno Police Department, for his arrest. A sergeant responded to approve the arrest and debrief the subject. He was then booked into the county jail for public intoxication and the warrant.
A patron parked their silver 1999 Honda Accord on 12-23-14 at 0900 hours and discovered that their catalytic converter was stolen the same date at 1530 hours. The report was made today on 12-26-14.
A victim reported his $200 white and green 18 speed hybrid bicycle (unknown make and model) was stolen while it was cable locked at the bike racks between 1800 hours on 12/18/14 to 1800 hours on 12/19/14.
A victim reported the theft of their silver women's Cannondale Q-5 hybrid bicycle (no serial numbers) from the North Berkeley Station. The victim parked the bike at 0900 hours and secured the bike to the bike racks (near lot) using a U-Lock and a cable combo. The victim returned at 2215 hours and discovered the loss. The estimated the loss is $800.00. An officer completed a theft report.
A victim reported that while he was using the restroom, he left his bike unsecured in the free area. The station agent reported that a suspect (WM, 30-35, blonde mustache, thin build, red/grey striped knit cap) took the bike and fled out of the area. Officers searched the area, but were not able to locate the suspect or the bike. The bike was a dark colored 10-speed Cannondale bike.
A sergeant and an officer contacted a male subject at the station who was reportedly distressed and crying. While it was determined the subject was able to care for himself, a warrants check revealed he was out of compliance with his sex registrant status. The subject was placed under arrest for the violation, debriefed by the sergeant and booked into the county jail.
While on patrol, an officer observed and detained a subject for panhandling. A wants check revealed that the subject had a misdemeanor $15k warrant charging public intoxication issued from BART PD. The subject was arrested and booked into the Berkeley City Jail for his warrant.
A victim reported the theft of their men’s black Public brand road bike, valued at $800, while it was U-locked at the station on 11/24/14, between 0815-2200 hours. An officer responded and completed a report.
