A man reported the theft of his Trek model 4500 men's mountain bike from the Lafayette station on 4/19/13 between 0720 - 1700 hours. The victim stated he did not immediately report the theft because he was attempting to locate the serial number for the bike. The bike had been secured to the bike racks in the concourse area with a cable lock. The victim valued the bike at $495.00.
A man reported that his 2007 Honda Civic 4-dr. vehicle had been burglarized between 1000-2314 hrs. while parked in stall #215. The front-passenger door window had been smashed. The glove box had been searched and a multi-port charging device was stolen. The investigating officer processed the vehicle for latent prints.
A victim reported his 2008 gray BMW was burglarized while it was parked and locked near the east lot, stall 1338, between 0720-2020 hours. The driver’s side window was smashed and miscellaneous items were taken from inside the vehicle. The scene was processed for evidence by the officer.
A victim reported his 2000 black Honda Civic 2 door was burglarized while it was parked and locked in stall #412 at the station between 0630-1850 hours. The driver side door was damaged, and there was no loss to the vehicle’s interior. The scene was processed for evidence.
A woman was punched in the face and pushed out of her vehicle by her boyfriend while they were in the upper parking lot. Both parties had active restraining orders against each other, and the male fled the station in the vehicle after the incident. The victim sustained a lacerated lip, and was given medical attention at the scene. An officer contacted a victim regarding the theft of his catalytic converter from his green 2002 Toyota Tundra (6A556649). The victim parked his truck at 0530 hours, in stall # 656, of the Lafayette Station. The victim returned at 1315 hours and discovered the loss. An officer checked the vehicle for prints and evidence, but with negative results. The estimated loss is $1,000.
Officers responded to the station on a report of a young male riding a bike through the upper lot of the station, possibly looking into vehicles. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles with windows that had been smashed. An area check for the suspect was met with negative results. The first vehicle was a 2003 Toyota truck and the second vehicle, a 1997 Honda CRV. It is unknown if there was any loss from either vehicle. The investigating officer processed the vehicles for latent prints with negative results. A note was left for the owners.
A victim made a phone report regarding the theft of his catalytic converter from his silver 2002 Toyota Sequoia (4NKK204). The Toyota was parked in the upper lot (unknown stall) of the Lafayette Station on 1/9/13 at 0730 hours. When the victim returned at 1930 hours, he discovered the theft. The loss is estimated at $950.00 and the vehicle is in the repair shop so it was not processed for evidence. The victim reported the catalytic converter was unbolted from the Toyota.
A patron reported a suspicious male in the parking lot. The station agent went to the lot and could see the male (WM, 30's, heavyset, beard, white knit cap, dark coat) looking into vehicles. The suspect was able to enter a Honda Accord and drive away before officers arrived. The agent was able to obtain the license plate. Officers could not locate the vehicle in the area, but were able to contact the owner and confirm that it had been taken without the owner's consent.
On 10/26/12, at 0957 hours, an adult female victim made a phone report regarding the theft of her catalytic converter that occurred on 10/24/12. The victim parked her beige 1997 Toyota 4-runner (Cal lic. 4HIM654) at the Lafayette BART Station at 0740 hours, but she could not remember the stall number. When she returned at 1810 hours, she started her vehicle and discovered that someone had removed her catalytic converter. The victim had her vehicle inspected by a mechanic and was informed that her catalytic converter had been cut off and the repair would cost $2,000. The vehicle is not available for inspection or processing for evidence. An Officer was assigned to the case.
A BART Officer contacted an adult male victim who reported the theft of his bicycle from the Lafayette Station. The victim locked his black and gold Merida mountain-bike with a cable at the racks about 0840 hours. When he returned about 1930 hours, the bike was missing.
A victim reported a lock punched on his 2000 Ford F-150 truck 6E26146 CA. and the ignition damaged in an attempt to steal the vehicle between 0750 and 1900 hours. Total damaged listed at $1200. No property loss reported. The vehicle was parked in the north/east lot, stall #1260. The report did not document the vehicle being processed for evidence.
