A male victim approached the station agent's booth to report that someone had punched him and took his cell phone while he was standing in the bus zone. The victim was having a hard time remembering what happened and requested medical aid, but refused treatment once aid arrived. He was unable to provide any suspect information. Station video will be requested.
A witness called to report a group of juveniles/late teens/early 20s (as many as 12 suspects) who were creating a disturbance on the train and eventually robbed a victim of their cell phone. The victim off boarded the train at Lake Merritt Station and confirmed that two of the suspects were armed with handguns. As the victim was being contacted, a second victim reported that he was also robbed of his cell phone while on a train at the Coliseum Station. The suspects (also a group of young males and females) off boarded the train at the Coliseum Station, but then re-boarded the same train as the victim and off-boarded at the Fruitvale Station. The train was held until officers were able to conduct a search for the suspects. They were not located. Station and train video will be requested. Neither phone was able to be tracked and neither victim was physically injured. 1703-1310,
An officer attempted to detain an adult male suspect for fare evasion. The suspect fled from the officer, and a short foot pursuit ensued. The officer was able to catch the suspect and place him under arrest. The suspect was booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail for resisting arrest. The suspect was also cited for fare evasion.
Officers detained a suspect for fare evasion. The suspect resisted arrest and fought with the officers. Force was used to subdue the suspect. The suspect was arrested on the above listed charges, given a prohibition order and taken to jail for booking. The sergeant responded to approve the arrest and conduct the use of force investigation. A male suspect detained for fare evasion by officers falsely identified himself. Further investigation by officers revealed the suspect’s actual identity, and found that he was on active probation for trespassing. The officers placed the suspect under arrest for falsely identifying himself and violating the terms of his probation; he was subsequently booked into the county jail.
Two separate victims reported that their phones were taken from their hands as the Fremont bound train pulled into the station. It is unknown if the suspects were working in concert. One suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, wearing a grey hoodie and the other was described as a black male in his 20s with saggy jeans. Both fled the station after taking an iPhone from each victim. Neither victim was injured and neither phone was able to be tracked. Video will be requested. 1703-0350,
A victim reported that their vehicle was burglarized while parked on level 2 of the parking structure between 0900-1641 hours. The driver's side window was smashed to gain entry and two empty grocery bags were taken. The vehicle was processed for evidence.
A female victim reported that a male suspect (BM, early 20s, black hoodie and dark pants) grabbed her iPhone 7s and ran out of the train. The victim was not injured and the phone could not be tracked. Video will be requested.
A victim reported his Silver Macbook Pro was snatched from his hand aboard a Fremont bound train. The suspect (BM, dark complexion, 18-20 years old, 5'7"-5'8" tall, medium build, short hair, clean shaven, wearing a black hoodie and black pants) grabbed the Macbook and ran out the emergency door of the station towards 35th Avenue. The loss was approximately $2800. An officer completed a theft report and requested video.
Officers responded to the station to investigate a report of a person who was requesting to speak to an officer about needed an ambulance. On arrival the officers determined that the suspect was not in need of medical assistance but was wanted on a no bail warrant for harassing phone calls out of Alameda County. The suspect was arrested and booked for the warrant.
Officers stopped a male who fare evaded from the Fruitvale Station. A records check showed he had a $31,000 arrest warrant for burglary. The male was cited for fare evasion and was placed under arrest on the warrant.
Officers detained an adult male for fare evasion and subsequently was found to have a stay away order from all BART stations, which was a condition of his probation. The suspect was cited for fare evasion and then booked into the Glen Dyer jail for the stay away order and the probation violation.
Officers detained a male suspect for battering a female station agent with an empty beverage can. Shortly after the station agent placed the suspect under citizen’s arrest for battery, officers learned the he was also on active probation, a portion of which stipulates he must stay away from BART property. Before he could be booked, however, officers determined the suspect posed a danger to others due to mental health issue so paramedics responded in order to transport him to the county’s mental health facility. Prior to taking the suspect to the facility, and at their discretion, paramedics transported the suspect to the county hospital for medical clearance. Once cleared from the hospital, the suspect will be transported to the mental health facility where he will be placed on a police hold as well; he then be booked for battering the station agent and probation violation. The suspect was issued a prohibition order. The station agent was not injured as a result of the battery and declined medical attention. Similarly, the suspect was not injured nor did he complain of any medical issues.
Two male suspects, described as 16-18, 5’06” – 5’08”, both slim, wearing black jackets and jeans, possibly with dreds, snatched the victim’s phone, a gold colored iPhone 6. The victim said that one of the suspects was wearing neon yellow sneakers. The phone was turned off and unable to be tracked. The victim was not injured.
Officers detained a male at the rear of the Fruitvale Station for possible H&S violation which was occurring within a nearby daycare center. The subject had a search clause and resisted the officers and had to be forcibly restrained and handcuffed. A sergeant responded to conduct a Use of Force. The subject was transported and booked into the Santa Rita Jail for resisting arrest, and battery on a peace officer.
A patron reported that their iPhone was snatched from their hand while on a train. The two 17-19 year old black male suspects fled on foot. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspects in the area. The phone could not be tracked.
The male victim reported that while aboard a train at the station, his company’s Apple Macbook laptop was suddenly snatched from his grasp by a black male juvenile who then ran from the train. The victim chased after the suspect for approximately 2-3 blocks, and last saw him near the corner of Fruitvale Ave. and International Blvd. Officers responded, but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim, who was not injured, further described the suspect as wearing a blue hooded-jean jacket and gray pants. The laptop was not readily tracked as the victim attempted to obtain its information from his employer. The investigating officer requested station video.
A female victim reported that a male suspect followed her from the parking lot and grabbed her buttocks and genitals. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 30-40 years old, 5'5" tall, with a heavy build, wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and dark pants. The suspect was last seen walking toward the Fruitvale Village. Officers responded, but did not locate the suspect in the area.
