A male was reported to be behaving erratically. A BART Officer detained the male and discovered that he had a 40K warrant for public intoxication out of San Mateo County. The male was transported to Santa Rita Jail.
A male suspect, detained by officers for a food violation, falsely identified himself. Officers then determined his actual identity and learned he was on active probation and prohibited from entering BART property, via a court issued stay away order. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for the violations without incident, and then booked him into the county jail.
The victim reported the theft of their Thrasher brand men’s road bike, valued at $50.00, while it was cable locked at the station between 1600 hours on 5/23/17 and 1028 hours on 5/24/17. A community service officer took the report.
Two victims reported that a suspect stole their cell phones. Officers detained a male matching the suspect description in the nearby shopping area. The suspect was in possession of one of the stolen phones, and admitted that he took both phones. He was on probation for theft. The suspect was arrested and booked at Glenn Dyer Jail for theft from person and probation violation.
A security guard from a local business followed a vandalism suspect to the Fruitvale Station and contacted BPD officers. The female was detained and a records check she had an 10K arrest warrant for theft. The business did not want to pursue charges for vandalism and she was booked on the warrant.
While aboard a Daly City bound train at the Fruitvale Station, the female victim was confronted by a male suspect who took her iPhone and fled from the train, followed by the victim in pursuit. The station agent saw the commotion and chased after the suspect and eventually caught up the him and retrieved the victims iPhone. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction. An officer is investigating the incident.
A victim called in to report their vehicle, a 2006 GMC Yukon, was stolen from stall #1185 at the station. The victim parked their vehicle on 5/3/2017 at approximately 2100 hours and returned today to find it missing.
Officers detained a female for fare evasion at the Fruitvale Station. A records check showed she violated a court order by being out of compliance to a court order. The female was issued a warning citation and was booked at jail.
A victim reported that their vehicle was burglarized while parked at the station between 1610-1715 hours. The driver's window was smashed to gain entry and the interior was ransacked, but nothing was taken.
A BART contractor reported the theft of a $12,000 compressor unit from a BART construction site at East 12th Street and 29th Avenue in the city of Oakland (near the Fruitvale Station). The compressor was left on its trailer, unhitched, at 0800 hours and when the contractor returned at 1230 hours, the whole unit was gone.
