An officer contacted an adult male suspect for smoking in the station and discovered, during a records check, that the male had a $5000 warrant for DUI. The male was booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail for the warrant and cited for the smoking violation.
A BART Officer contacted an adult male victim who reported his $1400 Men’s “Black Friday,” 7-speed bicycle was taken from the bike racks at Fruitvale Station. The victim locked the bike with a cable about 1830 hours. Upon returning about 2115 hours, the bike and lock were missing. A request for possible video was made.
A BART Officer on-viewed a male adult suspect using wire cutters to cut a cable used to secure a bicycle. The suspect has an active stay-away order from BART facilities. The Officer took the suspect into custody for attempt petty theft, possession of burglary tools, and violation of a court order.
A female adult patron reported that while riding a Fremont bound train stopping at Fruitvale Station, a suspect grabbed an I-Pad from the victim’s grasp and fled the station. The victim did not report the incident until she off-boarded the train at Union City Station. She described the suspect as a black male, about 20 y.o., 5’8”, long hair, wearing a dark hoodie with a red cap. Officers checked the area with negative results. The station agent did not see anyone matching the description. The train cars are being checked for possible video evidence.
A patron reported their unknown brand 18 speed bicycle was stolen from the racks in the free area between 0900-1645 hours. The bike was secured with a chain and padlock. The suspect pried the lock open, leaving the undamaged chain and lock behind.
A victim reported two bikes, locked together by a cable lock, were stolen while locked at the bicycle racks near the pay phone. The bicycles were locked at 1815 hours. Upon returning at 2350 hours the bicycles were missing. A BART Officer contacted an adult female patron who reported that her beige 1998 Nissan Maxima (4CXA523) was stolen at Fruitvale Station. The victim said it was parked in stall #1203 about 0740 hours this morning. Upon returning about 1745 hours, the vehicle was missing.
An officer on-viewed a drug transaction in front of the station and was able to contact the seller. A search revealed marijuana packaged for sale and an ecstasy pill in his possession. The task force officer was notified. After being interviewed, the suspect was booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail for Possession of Marijuana for Sales and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
A patron reported their vehicle was burglarized between 0750-1412 hours while parked in stall # 880 of the Derby Lot. The suspect entered via right front passenger window smash. The vehicle was photographed, and processed for latent prints.
A patron reported via telephone his blue 2001 Volkswagen Jetta was burglarized while it was parked and locked in parking structure stall #873 on 6/7/12 between 0830-1430 hours. The front passenger window was smashed, and a Pioneer car stereo and Northface jacket was taken from inside the vehicle.
An officer detained a male suspect for panhandling at the ticket vendors. A consensual search of the male revealed some suspected Heroin bindles in the suspect’s jacket pocket along with some drug paraphernalia. The male was arrested and booked at the North County Jail for possession of narcotics and possession of paraphernalia. Suspect was debriefed by the Sergeant.
A patron reported the theft of their men's, 18 speed, Kore GT bike, sil, gld and blk in color. The theft occurred between 1940 hrs on 6/1/12 and 1345 hrs on 6/2/12. The bike was secured with a u-lock and valued at $1,000. The victim could not provide a serial number for the bike.
A patron reported their vehicle was burglarized between 0645-1600 hours while parked in the structure. The suspect entered by unknown means and removed a flute, a GPS receiver and cell phone. He also damaged the in-dash stereo attempting to remove it.
A BART Officer contacted a victim at Fruitvale Station who reported his tan 1990 Toyota Camry was burglarized on the 4th level of the parking structure. The victim parked his vehicle about 1300 hours and upon returning about 1835 hours noticed his car was entered and a camera and coins were missing. The method of entry was via cheating the door lock on the passenger side. Evidence could not be collected. 1205-3878 L21.
A BART Officer detained an adult male suspect after observing him selling BART ticket near the fare machines at Fruitvale Station. The Officer determined the suspect was on probation for grand theft. The Officer searched the suspect finding multiple altered tickets, and tools in which to manufacture altered tickets. The suspect was taken into custody, and gave a statement acknowledging that he sells tickets that he alters on a regular basis. Detectives were called for follow-up. The suspect was booked at Glenn Dyer Jail. 1205-3867 L21.
An officer responded to a report of a male battering a female. The officer arrested the male for domestic battery upon his pregnant girlfriend. Three independent witnesses told the officer that the suspect had pushed and choked the woman. A sergeant attempted to debrief the suspect, who was booked into Glenn Dyer Jail.
A male patron had his wallet snatched from his hand while crossing the street from the station to the Derby Street lot. The suspect fled on foot. He was described as a black male in his 20's, balding, 6'2" tall with a muscular build, wearing a black tee shirt and blue jeans. Oakland PD was notified of the crime.
A station agent witnessed three males trying to cut the lock off a bicycle at the bike racks. One male was trying to cut a lock while concealing himself with a jacket, and the other males were acting as look outs. Officers responded to the scene and detained a male who was in possession of bolt cutters. The suspect was positively identified by witnesses as the person using the bolt cutters to steal a bicycle. The other suspects were identified and released at the scene. The detained suspect was arrested for attempt petty theft, petty theft with a prior conviction, and possession of burglary tools.
An officer intercepted a Fremont bound train at the station on a report of a person creating a disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer off-boarded a subject who has had numerous prior contacts with BART Police. After approximately 15 minutes of refusing to furnish sufficient identification, the subject was placed under arrest for delaying the officer from performing her duties. A search incident to arrest resulted in the recovery of a crack pipe on the suspect's person. The suspect was booked at Glen Dyer Jail for the aforementioned crimes and for also having outstanding BART warrants totaling $2,000.00 for failing to appear in court.
A patron reported that her 2000 Honda Civic, parked in stall #407, had its window smashed and glove box and center console ransacked. She had parked the vehicle at 0820 hours and returned at 2105 hours to find the damage. No reported property loss. 1205 – 1100. L13
