A victim called in to report their vehicle, a 2006 GMC Yukon, was stolen from stall #1185 at the station. The victim parked their vehicle on 5/3/2017 at approximately 2100 hours and returned today to find it missing.
Officers detained a female for fare evasion at the Fruitvale Station. A records check showed she violated a court order by being out of compliance to a court order. The female was issued a warning citation and was booked at jail.
A victim reported that their vehicle was burglarized while parked at the station between 1610-1715 hours. The driver's window was smashed to gain entry and the interior was ransacked, but nothing was taken.
A BART contractor reported the theft of a $12,000 compressor unit from a BART construction site at East 12th Street and 29th Avenue in the city of Oakland (near the Fruitvale Station). The compressor was left on its trailer, unhitched, at 0800 hours and when the contractor returned at 1230 hours, the whole unit was gone.
The female victim reported that while aboard a Dublin/Pleasanton bound train arriving at the station, two Black male juveniles forcibly took her Apple laptop and iPhone from her grasp and then fled from the station via an emergency door. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspects, nor were they able to track laptop or the phone. The victim was not injured. The investigating officer requested station video.
A male suspect detained for fare evasion by officers attempted to flee before force was used to arrest him for resisting arrest. A subsequent criminal history check of the suspect revealed an active stay away order prohibiting him from BART property. A sergeant responded to approve the arrest and perform the use of force investigation. The suspect was then booked into the county jail for resisting arrest, falsely identifying himself to police and violating a court order; he was also issued a citation for fare evasion. No injuries were sustained by the officers or the suspect.
A female victim reported a male attempted to take her cellphone from her on a Fremont bound train at the San Leandro Station, at 1126 hours. The suspect was described as a Black male, tall, thin, wearing a gray hoodie with black hood and sleeves. The victim held onto her cell phone and the suspect fled. At 1329 hours, an officer spotted a male who matched the given description of the earlier theft and detained. The suspect was identified as a juvenile and a records check showed he was a runaway. The male was taken into custody and officers located a firearm in his possession. The male was placed under arrest for the firearm violation.
A patron reported that a male suspect snatched their cell phone and fled on foot. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20's, in the company of 6-8 other black males. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspects in the area.
A patron reported that their white 2004 Cadillac Escalade was stolen from the second level of the parking structure, between 0930-1700 hours. The vehicle was later recovered at San Leandro Station.
A female victim reported that she was on a Fremont bound train when a male suspect (BM, 19-25, grey hoodie, who was with about 4-5 other juveniles, BMs teens-20s) approached her and demanded her belongings. He then showed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun in his waistband before taking her cell phone and wallet. He and his companions off boarded the train at the Coliseum Station and were not located by responding officers. Video is being requested from the train and the Coliseum Station. The victim was not injured. The victim did not have tracking enabled on the phone.
