The train operator of a Dublin bound train was punched and kicked by an adult male who jumped through the train operator's cab window as the train pulled into the station. A male passenger came to the train operator's aid and pinned the suspect to the ground until officers arrived at the scene. Train operator declined medical treatment and was allowed to continue on with his run. The suspect was booked for battery upon the train operator. The assault appears unprovoked.
An adult male contacted for disturbing others was arrested and booked for violating a stay-away order in addition to $10,000 in outstanding warrants, most of out of this jurisdiction.
Station agent reported a man with a knife threatening to kill himself. Subject was taken into custody without incident and held for psychiatric evaluation.
A subject reported by the station agent as possibly under the influence of an unknown substance and harassing patrons, caused injury to himself by running into a wall and knocking himself out. Paramedics transported the subject to the hospital where he later expired.
A BART officer working a plainclothes assignment at Embarcadero station was pushed from behind by a female suspect. The officer identified himself to the suspect and the suspect continued to attack him causing minor injuries. Officers responded to a report of two males engaged in a fist-fight on boartd a Dublin-bound train holding at the station. Both parties were gone when officers arrived.
hrs. A man calling from a payphone in downtown Oakland claimed that four devices would explode aboard a train at Embarcadero station within 5-15 minutes. The threat was not deemed credible. As a precaution, the station and four trains were swept. No unusual objects were located and there were no substantial service delays.
A sergeant on patrol was flagged down by a patron who reported that she just been punched in the back by an adult female who fled on foot. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspect.
An escalator repair employee attempted to turn on the escalator that was being blocked by a transient. An argument ensued and the subject pushed the employee before leaving the area. No injuries. GOA/UTL.
An officer observed a suspect attempting to enter the M2 bore. The suspect was uncooperative, and had to be pepper-sprayed to prevent him from entering the bore. It took three officers to gain control of the combative suspect. He was arrested and booked.
A male suspect, accompanied by three belligerent associates, threatened the station agent and threw a cone on the trackway. When confronted by officers, he violently resisted their efforts to detain him. He was arrested and booked for various charges and warrants.
A subject contacted for smoking on the platform by a plainclothes officer was arrested and booked for the offense in addition to resisting arrest.
A fire started on the M-2 trackway, about 200 feet into the tunnel between Embarcadero and Montgomery stations. A train of passengers self-evacuated and walked to Montgomery. SFFD arrived and extinguished the fire. The station was kept closed until the fire department cleared and the standing water on most of the platform was removed. The station was closed either fully or partially (run throughs were eventually allowed) for about two hours. It appears as though the fire was caused by garbage being ignited by sparks, while surrounding debris and wooden railroad ties also caught fire.
