An on-duty employee in the BART Operations Center observing the station cameras saw a male acting erratically on the platform. The man was talking to himself and was standing on the yellow platform safety strip, with his back to the tracks, and his heels hanging over the edge of the platform. Trains were held out of the station as a precaution and officers detained the man without incident. The man had prior contacts for similar activities and the officers determined that his activity was likely to continue even after being issued a citation, so he was taken into custody and eventually booked at San Francisco County Jail for trespassing/interfering with railroad operations.
A warrant check on a person for unruly conduct by officers revealed an outstanding no-bail arrest warrant out of San Francisco for burglary, and another no-bail arrest warrant out of Fremont for narcotics. The subject was placed under arrest for the warrants. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest and debrief the suspect.
A warrant check on a person detained for fare evasion by an officer revealed an outstanding no-bail felony arrest warrant out of Alameda County for threats, and another no-bail felony arrest warrant out of the California Department of Corrections for parole violation. The person was cited for fare evasion and placed under arrest for the warrants. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest.
BART customers on a train reported that a man was threatening to "cut" other passengers. No weapons were seen. Officers responded and discovered that the suspect had off-boarded the train at Oakland West BART Station. Officers searched West Oakland BART Station and the surrounding area but did not locate the suspect.
An adult male victim had his iPhone 5 snatched from his hand by two juvenile suspects while on the Pittsburg train. The suspects fled to the street, with the victim in pursuit. The victim flagged down SFPD officers on Market Street, who detained the two suspects. The victim recovered his phone and refused to pursue a complaint. Responding officers detained the juvenile suspects, identified them and eventually released them to an adult relative.
A victim reported his black briefcase containing his $1,000 Think Pad laptop was stolen while he was on-board a San Francisco bound train. The victim said the briefcase was under his seat, and noticed it was missing when he off-boarded at the Embarcadero Station. There is no suspect information. Video hotline notified.
The on-duty station agent reported that the suspect was inside the station in violation of a stay away order. The stay away order prohibited the suspect from being inside the station and near the station agent. Officers contacted the suspect and confirmed the stay away order. The order was confirmed and the suspect was placed under arrest. The suspect was debriefed by the on-duty sergeant before being booked into the San Francisco Jail on the above listed charge.
The on-duty station agent notified the ISRC of the suspect who was inside the station. The agent advised that the suspect had a stay away order from the station as well as the agent, himself. When officers arrived, they placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect was debriefed by the sergeant before being booked into the San Francisco Jail for violation of the stay away order.
A female victim reported a man was fondling her inner thighs while she was asleep on a San Francisco bound train. The suspect off boarded the train at the Embarcadero Station, and the victim reported the crime when she arrived at the Montgomery Street Station. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. There were no injuries. Video requested.
A subject jumped down onto track way from the platform causing the SF bound train to hold and the third rail to be powered down. The subject was extremely agitated when officers arrived. Officers were able to get the subject safely off of the track way and detain him on the platform. It was determined that the subject was in need of a psychiatric evaluation. The subject was transported to SF General on a 5150 W&I hold. Trains were delayed for approximately 6 minutes. TSOC was notified.
An anonymous party reported that an adult male was intoxicated and harassing patrons aboard an airport bound train at the Embarcadero Station. An officer responded and off boarded the male from the train. No one came forward to lodge a complaint against the male. The male gave a false name to the officer and attempted to walk away from him several times. The officer attempted to place the male into handcuffs but the male resisted. After a brief struggle, the officer was able to place the male into handcuffs, without injury. The male was identified and debriefed by a sergeant. The suspect was booked at SF Jail for public intoxication.
An adult female reported that a White male suspect (20's, 6 ft, 150-160) grabbed her cell phone from her hand at the Embarcadero Station. The female was sitting on a bench and holding her phone, when the male grabbed the phone from her hands. Loss was an Apple I-Phone 4G ($200). Officers responded and attempted to track the victim's phone, but were unsuccessful.
An officer on a fixed post detail stopped an adult male for fare evasion. A records check revealed multiple warrants for a variety of crimes, totaling approximately $100,000. The male was debriefed regarding BART related crimes by the zone sergeant before being cited for the fare evasion and booked into the San Francisco County Jail for the warrants. 1211-2255 L16 #UPDATE: Subject was admitted into S.F. General Hospital for health problems. Subject was released from custody and the warrants were reactivated in the system. 1309 hours.
A man was detained by officers for trespassing in the track #2 tunnel at the north end of the platform. A BART work crew escorted the man out of the tunnel and kept him under observation until the officers arrived on scene. The suspect was arrested for trespassing in the tunnel and for public intoxication. The suspect was debriefed by a sergeant, who also approved the arrest. The suspect claimed to have been trying to walk home after missing the last train out of the station. The suspect was booked into the San Francisco Jail. TSOC was notifed.
An officer working a fixed post detail on the platform was able to take an adult male suspect into custody after the suspect had snatched an iPhone out of the hand of a female victim. The phone was recovered and returned to the victim. Video will be requested. Detectives were notified to respond to interview the suspect. The suspect will be booked into the San Francisco County Jail for Grand Theft from a Person.
Officers responded to a report of a man beneath a Daly City train at Embarcadero station. Two witnesses said that they saw a white male jump in front of the train as it entered the station. The officers located the victim beneath a train car located in the rear third of the consist. The man appeared to be dead. Upon arrival, paramedics and San Francisco Fire Department personnel confirmed that the victim was deceased. The station was closed. The coroner's office was notified and provided an estimated time of arrival of 2130 hrs., due to other calls. The on-call detective was notified and arranged to obtain video coverage of the incident. Notifications have been made and TSOC was advised. The coroner and police personnel cleared the scene at 2311 hrs.
BART Central located at person walking through the TransBay Tube via their video cameras from the Embarcadero Station toward the West Oakland Station. Officers responded to the Embarcadero Station, San Francisco Vent Structure, Oakland Vent Structure, and the West Oakland Station to conduct a search for the suspect. The TransBay Tube was closed for service as officers and BART Central coordinated their resources to begin their search. The suspect was located and taken in custody for trespassing. Service was restored at 2021 hours. TSOC was notified.
A K-9 officer watched an adult male fare evade by using the elevator to exit the system. After contacting the male and checking him for warrants, the officer discovered that the male had a $50,000 warrant for possession of a firearm. The male was taken into custody without incident. After being debriefed regarding his knowledge of BART related crimes, the male was booked into the San Francisco County Jail for the warrant and cited for fare evasion.
A man reported that a person took a wallet from his rear pants pocket while he was inside the station earlier in the day at 1050 hours. The suspect, described as Black male, 5’8”, bald head, and wearing a windbreaker, black pants and a black backpack, fled the station toward Market and Beale Streets. The victim chased the suspect but was unable to catch him. The wallet contained $7.00 and miscellaneous credit cards. No one was injured. Police video hotline was notified. 1208-3625/3670 L12
Asa woman boarded a Dublin bound train at the station, a man followed her onto the train and took a wallet out of her purse. Another patron witnessed the theft and, along with an off-duty police officer, detained the suspect until an officer arrived at the scene a few minutes later. The suspect was placed under arrest for grand theft and was booked at the San Francisco Jail. 1208-3196 L12.
A train operator observed a black male, wearing baggy pants, in the Trans Bay Tube on platform 2. The train operator told the suspect to get back on the platform, which he did. Officers made contact with the suspect on the platform. A records check revealed a CDC warrant charging larceny and a parole violation. The suspect was taken into custody on the warrant and booked into the San Francisco County Jail. The train operator who witnessed the suspect in the tube was gone upon the officers' arrival. TSOC notified.
An officer responded to a report of a woman possibly in possession of a stun gun on a train approaching the Embarcadero Station. A stun gun was found on the suspected person, and a warrant check revealed the suspect had an outstanding $10,000 arrest warrant out of Santa Clara County for larceny. The suspect was arrested on the warrant and the stun gun was placed into evidence.
A patron reported the theft of her iPhone. The suspect (described as a Black male, 6', young, wearing a grey Cal Republic hoodie with a flag on the front and blue jeans) grabbed the phone from the victim's hand and then fled to the street level. Officers were not able to locate the suspect. Station video has been requested.
