Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Resisting Arrest

An officer working a fixed post detail noticed an adult male who the officer thought had a valid stay away order to stay away from all BART stations.  The officer attempted to detain the male to confirm the order.  The male tried to walk away and eventually had to be restrained.  A search of his person revealed a crack pipe.  A records check revealed that the male has a stay away order, but not from the Embarcadero Station.  The suspect was booked into the San Francisco County Jail for resisting/delaying an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Possession of Altered Tickets

Embarcadero - 1304-2315

While on patrol, officers on-viewed a person known to possess altered tickets in possession of altered BART tickets. The subject was placed under arrest for possession of altered tickets. A search of the suspect’s backpack incident to arrest resulted in the recovery of scissors, glue, and magnetic strips from BART tickets. The suspect was also placed under arrest for altering BART tickets. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest and interview the suspect. The suspect gave a written statement admitting to possessing BART tickets.

 Sexual Battery/Battery on Passenger/Public Intoxication

Embarcadero - 1304-2016

A patron on a train reported via cell phone that there was a male suspect with an open vodka bottle who was creating a disturbance.  Patrons forced the suspect off the train at Embarcadero Station and alerted officers who were on routine platform patrol of the problem.  The officers' investigation determined that the suspect had touched a female victim on the buttocks.  The victim retaliated by spitting on the suspect and moving to another train car.  The suspect followed her and battered her.  The officers also determined the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.  The suspect was arrested and booked at San Francisco County Jail for sexual battery, battery on a transit passenger and public intoxication.

A warrant check on a person detained for fare evasion by an officer revealed an outstanding no-bail arrest warrant out of San Francisco for narcotics possession. The person also had two arrest warrants out of Chico totaling $10,000 for violation of court orders. The subject was cited for fare evasion and placed under arrest for the warrants. A sergeant arrived at scene to approve the arrest and debrief the subject.

A station agent reported a person with a BART stay away order was in the station. A records check revealed the person had an active stay away order from the station, and several outstanding arrest warrants out of San Francisco totaling $7,000. The person was placed under arrest for violating the court order and the outstanding warrants. A sergeant approved the arrest.

Domestic Battery Arrest

Officers responded to the platform for a report of a battery on the train.  Upon investigation, independent witnesses stated a man was grabbing, pulling, and physically restraining a woman while on the train. There were no injuries. The involved parties were in a dating relationship and the male, being deemed the aggressor, was placed under arrest for domestic battery. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest and interview the suspect. Both the victim and the suspect gave statements denying any violence had occurred.

Embarcadero - 1303-2649

Officers responded to the station for a disturbance on a San Francisco bound train. Upon further investigation, it was determined the disturbance was caused by a man attempting to physically take a woman’s bicycle from her while they were on the train. When the train arrived at the station, the woman was able to wrestle the bicycle away from the suspect, off-board the train, and leave the scene. A witness assisted police with positively identifying the suspect and providing a written statement. A warrant check on the suspect revealed an outstanding $1500.00 arrest warrant out of BART for failure to appear in court. The suspect was placed under arrest for attempted robbery and the warrant. A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest. The suspect was given his Miranda rights, but refused to give a statement. Video hotline notified.

Bomb Threat

A male caller used the platform courtesy phone to call the station agent.  The caller stated that he had a bomb and then hung up.  The agent, as well as responding police officers and a TSA K9 checked the platform and station and found no suspicious or hazardous items.  There was no disruption in service.  TSOC notified.

Officers detained an adult male for fare evasion.  They were unable to confirm the man's identity and discovered the man presented a counterfeit driver's license.  The man was arrested and booked at San Francisco County Jail for providing false information to a peace officer, possession of a counterfeit license and fare evasion.

Trespass/Interfere with Railroad Operations

Embarcadero - 1303-0405

An on-duty employee in the BART Operations Center observing the station cameras saw a male acting erratically on the platform.  The man was talking to himself and was standing on the yellow platform safety strip, with his back to the tracks, and his heels hanging over the edge of the platform.  Trains were held out of the station as a precaution and officers detained the man without incident.  The man had prior contacts for similar activities and the officers determined that his activity was likely to continue even after being issued a citation, so he was taken into custody and eventually booked at San Francisco County Jail for trespassing/interfering with railroad operations.

BART customers on a train reported that a man was threatening to "cut" other passengers.  No weapons were seen.  Officers responded and discovered that the suspect had off-boarded the train at Oakland West BART Station.  Officers searched West Oakland BART Station and the surrounding area but did not locate the suspect.

An adult male victim had his iPhone 5 snatched from his hand by two juvenile suspects while on the Pittsburg train.  The suspects fled to the street, with the victim in pursuit.  The victim flagged down SFPD officers on Market Street, who detained the two suspects.  The victim recovered his phone and refused to pursue a complaint.  Responding officers detained the juvenile suspects, identified them and eventually released them to an adult relative.

A victim reported his black briefcase containing his $1,000 Think Pad laptop was stolen while he was on-board a San Francisco bound train. The victim said the briefcase was under his seat, and noticed it was missing when he off-boarded at the Embarcadero Station. There is no suspect information. Video hotline notified.

The on-duty station agent reported that the suspect was inside the station in violation of a stay away order.  The stay away order prohibited the suspect from being inside the station and near the station agent.  Officers contacted the suspect and confirmed the stay away order.  The order was confirmed and the suspect was placed under arrest.  The suspect was debriefed by the on-duty sergeant before being booked into the San Francisco Jail on the above listed charge.

The on-duty station agent notified the ISRC of the suspect who was inside the station.  The agent advised that the suspect had a stay away order from the station as well as the agent, himself.  When officers arrived, they placed the suspect under arrest.  The suspect was debriefed by the sergeant before being booked into the San Francisco Jail for violation of the stay away order.

A female victim reported a man was fondling her inner thighs while she was asleep on a San Francisco bound train. The suspect off boarded the train at the Embarcadero Station, and the victim reported the crime when she arrived at the Montgomery Street Station. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. A subject jumped down onto track way from the platform causing the SF bound train to hold and the third rail to be powered down.  The subject was extremely agitated when officers arrived.  Officers were able to get the subject safely off of the track way and detain him on the platform.  It was determined that the subject was in need of a psychiatric evaluation.  The subject was transported to SF General on a 5150 W&I hold.  Trains were delayed for approximately 6 minutes.  TSOC was notified.

Harassing Patrons on a Train

Embarcadero - 1212-0792

An anonymous party reported that an adult male was intoxicated and harassing patrons aboard an airport bound train at the Embarcadero Station.  An officer responded and off boarded the male from the train.  No one came forward to lodge a complaint against the male.  The male gave a false name to the officer and attempted to walk away from him several times.  The officer attempted to place the male into handcuffs but the male resisted.  After a brief struggle, the officer was able to place the male into handcuffs, without injury.  The male was identified and debriefed by  a sergeant.  The suspect was booked at SF Jail for public intoxication.

An adult female reported that a White male suspect (20's, 6 ft, 150-160) grabbed her cell phone from her hand at the Embarcadero Station.  The female was sitting on a bench and holding her phone, when the male grabbed the phone from her hands.  Loss was an Apple I-Phone 4G ($200).  Officers responded and attempted to track the victim's phone, but were unsuccessful.

An officer on a fixed post detail stopped an adult male for fare evasion.  A records check revealed multiple warrants for a variety of crimes, totaling approximately $100,000.  The male was debriefed regarding BART related crimes by the zone sergeant before being cited for the fare evasion and booked into the San Francisco County Jail for the warrants.  1211-2255 L16 #UPDATE: Subject was admitted into S.F. General Hospital for health problems.  Subject was released from custody and the warrants were reactivated in the system. 1309 hours.

Trespassing/Interfering with the Operations of a Railroad

Embarcadero - 1211-1637

A man was detained by officers for trespassing in the track #2 tunnel at the north end of the platform.  A BART work crew escorted the man out of the tunnel and kept him under observation until the officers arrived on scene.  The suspect was arrested for trespassing in the tunnel and for public intoxication.  The suspect was debriefed by a sergeant, who also approved the arrest.  The suspect claimed to have been trying to walk home after missing the last train out of the station.  The suspect was booked into the San Francisco Jail.  TSOC was notifed.

 Grand Theft From a Person (Arrest)

An officer working a fixed post detail on the platform was able to take an adult male suspect into custody after the suspect had snatched an iPhone out of the hand of a female victim.  The phone was recovered and returned to the victim.  Video will be requested.  Detectives were notified to respond to interview the suspect.  The suspect will be booked into the San Francisco County Jail for Grand Theft from a Person.
