7/1/11 – 1444 An Officer contacted a 52 year old black male for fare evasion into the station. The Officer subsequently discovered that the suspect had a no-cite municipal code warrant out of Richmond P.D. for illegally collecting recyclables. The suspect was cited for fare evasion and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrant.
6/24/11 – 1746 A 45 year old black male suspect was detained for fare evasion at the station. The suspect was discovered to have a felony no bail warrant for Grand Theft and failure to appear out of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The subject was cited for fare evasion and booked at the Martinez Jail for the warrant.
While on patrol in the bus zone, two officers smelled an odor consistent with marijuana near a male sitting on a bench. Upon contacting the male, officers saw what appeared to be marijuana protruding out of his jacket pocket. The subject admitted to possessing marijuana, and was placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest of the subject's person resulted in the recovery of approximately 71 grams of marijuana and approximately a dozen prescription pills not belonging to the subject. The subject was transported to Martinez Jail for booking. 1106-3025 L12.
A warrant check on a male detained for fare evasion revealed two $30,000 outstanding arrest warrants out of San Francisco for battery. The subject was arrested and booked on the warrants at Martinez County jail. 1106-2209 L12.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on a juvenile warrant. He had been in the company of another man who was reportedly in possession of a gun. That suspect escaped from approaching officers, but left behind a loaded .22 caliber gun in a backpack. The gun was stolen in Sacramento in 1991. (outstanding suspect description: B-M, early 20’s, 5-10 to 6-0, short dread locks, baseball cap, red shirt)
An Officer was at the sub-station when he heard a loud engine rev in the parking lot. He walked outside to investigate and saw a group of citizens running towards the west lot. They pointed to 4 subjects who fled from a vehicle that crashed into 3 parked cars. Two of the suspects were apprehended after a brief foot chase, with the assistance of two retired deputies. The other two suspects were not located. Witnesses advised that the two detained suspects were passengers. A Detective responded to interview the two detained suspects which resulted in the driver being identified. An ID Tech responded to tech the scene. There were no injuries. The investigation is on-going.
Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated man on platform #2. They discovered that the 33-year-old man was a parolee at large wanted by the Calif. Dept. of Corrections & Rehabilitation. He was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
A sergeant on patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving the wrong way in the station bus zone. Upon contacting the male driver, the sergeant observed symptoms of intoxication and suspected he might be under the influence of alcohol. Field sobriety tests were conducted on the suspect, to which he failed and was subsequently arrested and booked for driving under the influence.
Several patrons reported smoking coming from the bike lockers at the station, which are directly below the track way. The smoke changed to a small fire. El Cerrito Fire Department arrived on scene a few minutes later and extinguished the fire. ECPD stated the fire was caused by an accelerant and appears intentional. Four bike lockers were damaged, as was one bicycle that was in one of the lockers. There are no suspects at this time. BART Central was advised of incident as it was transpiring and there was no interruption to BART train service.
An adult male contacted for fare evasion was found to have a felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. The male was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrant and cited for the fare evasion.
An adult female contacted for fare evasion was found to have $10,000 in warrants for falsely identifying herself to police and other minor violations. The suspect was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for the warrant.
Several males and females beat and robbed three people between the Richmond and El Cerrito Del Norte stations. Several items were taken, including a wallet. The subjects were detained by officers at the El Cerritio Del Norte station, where they were positively identified by two of the victims. The subjects were arrested for robbery and booked into Martinez Jail and Juvenile Hall.
An adult male was contacted by a BART Police Sergeant for fare evasion. During the contact, the suspect was found to be in possession of narcotics. The suspect was interviewed by the sergeant before being cited for the fare evasion and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for possession of a controlled substance.
At the bus stop, a 37-year-old man hit his 21-year-old girlfriend on her face with his open hand. She sustained swelling and cuts to her mouth. An officer located the suspect several blocks from the station. He had the couple's 2-month-old son with him. The suspect was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for battery on a cohabitant. The child was released to his mother. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and declined to be transported to the hospital.
An argument between two male partners resulted in one sustaining a minor injury to his hand. Officers responded to the scene and arrested one subject for battery. The subject was booked at the Martinez Jail. 1101-1058 L12.
A 22-year-old man cursed at, threatened, and raised his hand to slap a 21-year-old woman who had declined to talk to him. The victim, who feared for her safety and does not know the suspect, pointed the suspect out to arriving officers. The suspect, who is on probation for burglary and domestic violence, was found to have violated a condition of his probation by being within 100 yards of the station. The suspect was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for assault and for violation of probation.
An adult male and juvenile male became involved in a dispute at the ticket vending machines. The dispute became physical. A friend of the juvenile attempted to intervene and break up the fight and the adult suspect turned on the friend, battering him until he fell to the ground on all fours. The suspect walked a short distance away and then returned to kick the second victim in the head, knocking him unconscious. The suspect was located by responding officers at a nearby fast food restaurant and was postively identified by witnesses. The victim was transported to the hospital with possible head injuries. He was treated and later released to his parents. The suspect was booked at Martinez Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
An adult male contacted for fare evasion was found to be on probation for possession of a controlled substance with a full search clause. A search revealed a small amount of a controlled substance. The suspect was interviewed by the zone sergeant and then booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for the possession charge.
A 35-year-old Belgian tourist was arrested for slapping his 26-year-old girlfriend and pulling her hair in the parking lot. The victim did not require medical attention. The suspect was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for domestic battery.
Officers responded to the bus zone for a male who was refusing to off board a bus he had fare evaded on. After numerous failed attempts to make the suspect voluntarily off board, the suspect was placed into custody after a violent struggle with the officers. Upon completion of a psychiatric evaluation, the subject will be booked for resisting arrest. 1011-0565 L12.
A dating couple who had previously resided together got into a heated argument in the station parking lot. The female slapped the male and then bit his hand, resulting in minor injuries. The male refused medical attention. The female was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility for domestic violence.
An officer on patrol on-viewed several males assaulting a subject in the bus zone. As the officer approached the scene, the suspects fled with the officer chasing the primary suspect who was later apprehended. The suspect was booked into juvenile hall on the above charges.
