Officers and a sergeant were dispatched to a report of two suspicious male subjects in the lot who were possibly attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle.  The suspects were reportedly in a champagne colored van that was parked next to the victim vehicle.  The sergeant located the vehicle and was able to detain the subjects inside.  All three suspects were found to be on probation for theft related charges out of Alameda County with search clauses attached to each.  A search of the van yielded methamphetamines located under the rear passenger seat where the female was lying as well as suspected burglary tools.   A victim vehicle was located and it was determined that the suspects attempted to cut off the catalytic converter but were unable to complete the act.  An officer was able to locate the reporting party who later positively identified the subjects as the same ones he saw trying to steal the catalytic converter. Detectives responded to interview the suspects.  CAP Team officers and the sergeant conducted a probation search of two of the arrestee’s residence which yielded negative results.  The third arrestee was determined to be transient and did not have a current address.  The two male suspects are to be booked into the Santa Rita Jail for attempt grand theft, possession of burglary tools, and probation violation after their interview with detectives.  The female suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail for possession of meth and probation violation.
