A victim reported that a suspect (with two other male suspects, all BMs, teens) took her iPhone 6 from her hand and ran out of the train at the station at the Castro Valley Station. The victim reported the crime at the Fruitvale Station. The phone was not able to be tracked and the suspects were not located. The victim was not injured and station/train video will be requested.
A victim reported that their vehicle was burglarized while parked in the lot between 0730-1651 hours. It is unknown how entry was made into the vehicle, as there was no damage, but a gym bag with gym clothes, sunglasses, a small amount of cash and prescription medication was taken. The vehicle was processed for evidence.
A victim reported (via phone report) that the passenger window of her vehicle was smashed and two garage door openers had been taken from the vehicle. The crime occurred between 0800-2100 hours on 8/22.
Officers responded to the station for a report of a theft that had just occurred. Two male cab drivers were involved in an argument when one of the males reached into the parked cab via the driver’s window and grabbed the other male driver by the throat. When the male victim stated that he was going to call the police the male suspect grabbed the phone and walked off with it. The male suspect was detained by responding officers and was subsequently positively identified by the victim. The male suspect was placed under arrest for battery, theft of the phone and booked into the Santa Rita Jail. The victim had scratches and complained of pain to his neck, but refused medical attention.
A female victim reported that her iPhone 6 was snatched from her hand while on a Dublin bound train. The suspects got off the train at Castro Valley, while the victim remained on board and reported the theft at Dublin/Pleasanton Station. Officers responded and detained two suspects at Castro Valley Station, who had just boarded the Daly CIty bound train. The suspects did not have the victim's phone. However, while the train was at San Leandro Station, a patron found an iPhone 6 in the space between two train cars, where the suspects had been. The phone was confirmed to be the victim's. The victim refused to attempt an in-field identification. Lacking other witnesses, the two suspects were released. The phone was returned to the victim.
Two men were involved in a verbal dispute in front of the station when one man struck the other, knocking him to the ground. Witnesses phoned the police and officers responded and detained the suspect nearby. The victim was knocked unconscious and was transported to hospital by ambulance. The suspect was arrested and booked for aggravated assault and issued a prohibition order.
A patron reported an intoxicated male at the station. An officer contacted the male and determined that he was too intoxicated to care for himself. The male was booked into the Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication.
An officer contacted an adult male for fare evasion. The male ran from the officer and out of the station. Two sergeants, who were responding for cover, located the male and tried to detain him, but he ran from them. They were able to catch up to him and had to physically force him to the ground. The male, who was not injured, was eventually booked into the Santa Rita Jail for resisting arrest.
A victim reported the theft of their green and black bike (unknown brand) from the bike racks. The bike was secured with a cable lock on 5/19 at 1900 hours and when the victim returned at 0900 hours on 5/30, the bike and lock were gone.
A patron made a late report for the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle that had been parked at the Castro Valley Station. The crime occurred on Friday, 5/13/16 between 07:20 and 17:30 and the victim vehicle was a 2006 Honda Element that had been parked in space #607.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office requested that our officers respond to take over a domestic violence investigation. ACSO deputies had been passing trough the parking lot about 30 minutes before and had found a female victim on the ground, suffering from injuries to her face. The suspect was her former boyfriend, who had left the area. ACSO deputies attempted to contact the suspect at his residence, but he fled in a vehicle. ACSO pursued the suspect, but had to terminate the pursuit in the interests of public safety. The victim declined an EPO. The case will be forwarded to detectives for follow up.
A patron called in a male sleeping on the train with a kitchen knife in his lap. Officers contacted the male and recovered the knife without incident. A records check revealed a $50,000 warrant for burglary. The male was booked into the Santa Rita Jail for the warrant.
