A SAFE Task Force (BART) officer contacted Dispatch to advise that a suspect wanted for parole violation was on a train approaching the Castro Valley station. The suspect had reportedly cut-off his ankle monitor. The suspect has prior arrests in the past for weapons charges. Officers responded to the station platform and met the train. The officers located the suspect and took him into custody without incident. The suspect was arrested and booked for violation of parole.
A motorist driving on I-580 called to report a male standing on the platform pointing a rifle at the freeway. The caller provided a description of the male suspect and said that the rifle appeared to have a scope. Alameda County Deputies and BART Officers conducted a hazardous train search of the train that was held on the platform and located a suspect matching the description. The suspect had only an umbrella in his possession. He was identified and released. The trains were held for 12 minutes for the response/search.
A BART Police Sergeant took a report from a victim via phone. The victim stated he parked his 1990 Toyota 4-door sedan in the Castro Valley Station lot at 0705 hours. Upon returning at 1930 hours, the car was missing. There are no known leads at this time. 1202-4147 L21.
An Officer was monitoring traffic flowing along Norbridge Avenue which dissects the Castro Valley Station parking lot. He notice a driver, (WMA) using his cell-phone while driving. The officer conducted a traffic stop. Upon contacting the driver, the Officer saw the driver drop a clear plastic bag of suspected methamphetamine. The driver admitted the contents was methamphetamine. The suspect was cited for the traffic violation and he was booked for possession of a controlled substance at Santa Rita County Jail. 1202-3833 L21.
A patron reported two males cutting locks off bikes locked to the bike racks at the station. The two suspects fled with two bikes and were detained by responding officers near the station. The witness positively identified both suspects as the people he had seen cutting locks. Evidence at the scene connected the suspects to the theft. One victim was later located and confirmed that the bike had been stolen from the station. One of the suspects was on parole and had tools on his person that matched the lock found cut by the bike racks. Both suspects had prior convictions for theft. The on-call detective responded to interview the suspects and take over the investigation. Both suspects were booked at Santa Rita Jail for petty theft with prior convictions.
A warrant check on a person detained for fare evasion by officers revealed an outstanding no-bail felony arrest warrant for parole violation. The subject was placed under arrest for the outstanding warrant. 1202-2306 L12.
A sergeant on routine patrol discovered a car parked in the lot that had been reported stolen from the Hayward BART Station on 2/7/12. The vehicle, a 2001 Toyota 4Runner, was undamaged and was released to the registered owner. While investigating, property and paperwork belonging to several persons was located inside the vehicle. The property included vehicle registrations, cell phones and other paperwork that did not belong to the Toyota's owner. The property may be related to other auto burglaries or thefts. The vehicle was processed and the property was recovered as evidence for further investigation.
A warrant check on a man detained for drinking on a Daly City bound train approaching the Castro Valley Station by officers revealed an outstanding felony no-bail arrest warrant out of San Francisco for theft. The man was cited for having an open container of an alcoholic beverage and placed under arrest on the outstanding warrant. 1201-0446 L12.
A warrant check on a subject detained for fare evasion by an officer revealed an outstanding $10,000 arrest warrant out of San Francisco for battery and resisting arrest. The subject was arrested on the warrant. 1201-1666 L12.
A taxi driver and a motorist both reported a suspicious circumstance to an officer. The taxi driver said that he saw a male suspect wearing a ski mask try to knock a woman down near the bus zone. The suspect fled towards Castro Valley Blvd. and the victim ran towards the station. The motorist said that she saw a man with a ski mask attack a couple near the bus zone. The suspect knocked the male to the ground, then struggled with the female over some property. The motorist said that the suspect ran towards Strobridge Ave. The officer could not locate the suspect or any victims. The Alameda Co. Sheriff’s Dept. (ACSO) was notified. ACSO had not received any similar reports. (suspect description: unknown-race male, 5-10/6-0, 160-180 or “skinny,” dark-colored eyes, black-colored ski mask with white-rimmed eye holes, black sweatshirt or jacket, blue jeans)
An officer responded to the platform on a report of a male unlawfully lodging on the train. The juvenile male suspect was contacted and off-boarded. The suspect provided two false names before his real name was learned. The suspect told the officer he had on an ankle monitoring bracelet, but he removed it. Upon a records check, the suspect was a listed in MUPS as a missing person to Hayward PD by the Juvenile Justice Center in Hayward. The juvenile was transported to Alameda County Juvenile Hall at the request of the Juvenile Justice Center.
While on patrol in the parking lot, an officer contacted a man who was sleeping in the bushes. A warrant check on the subject revealed an outstanding $5,000 no-cite arrest warrant out of Alameda County for embezzlement. The subject was placed under arrest for the warrant and booked at the Santa Rita Jail. 1112-1109 L12.
A female victim reported man ran off with her white Sprint cell phone after giving the man permission to use it while they were in the carpool lot. The suspect ran northbound toward Redwood Road. Officers checked the area for the suspect with negative results. 1110-0420 L12.
Officers responded to the station on the report of a male suspect drinking vodka from a bottle and being boisterously loud on a north bound train. The officers contacted and off-boarded the suspect and determined he was intoxicated in public. The suspect was arrested and booked for public intoxication at the Santa Rita jail facility.
An anonymous patron flagged down a sergeant at the station and advised him of a male casing vehicles in the parking lot. The sergeant located and contacted the subject in the parking lot. Upon the consensual contact, the sergeant asked the subject if he any weapons in his possession. The subject stated he had a knife and Airsoft “BB” gun. The knife, a dagger, was concealed and the subject was subsequently arrested for possession of a concealed dagger violation. Incident to arrest, a search was conducted and the suspect was in possession of a “shaved” vehicle key, a burglary tool violation. The suspect was booked for the dagger and burglary tool possessions at the Santa Rita jail facility.
A male subject with a stroller was in front of the station when he contacted a station agent who was also in front of the station. The male told the station agent his 2-year old child was missing for five minutes now. The male stated he boarded a Millbrae train at West Dublin station and off-boarded at Castro Valley, and didn’t realize the child was missing until then. BART Central confirmed there are no Millbrae bound trains traveling through Castro Valley station. A BOLO was broadcasted over the District PA systems and trains checked throughout District. A sergeant responded to the station and met the male subject who reported the missing child. The reporting party’s account of how/where/when the child went missing was inconsistent. The sergeant suspected the male under the influence or had psychiatric issues. The sergeant was able to contact the wife of the reporting party, who confirmed she had possession of their child. The wife responded to the Castro Valley station, along with the child. The reporting party was determined to be in need of psychiatric evaluation and was detained for such; and transported to John George Psychiatric Pavilion by responding medical personnel. The detainee has a history of psychiatric detentions/evaluations.
A subject was reportedly masturbating on board a train at the Dublin Station. The Train Operator was the reporting party and the victim. Officers intercepted the train at the Castro Valley Station. The train operator identified the suspect to officers and placed him under citizens’ arrest. The suspect was taken into custody and booked for Lewd Conduct in Public at the Santa Rita Jail.
The station agent called to report a habitual fare evader who had just fare evaded into the station, and who the agent believed had a warrant for his arrest. Officers responded and made contact with the suspect on the platform. The adult male suspect was found to have a $20,000 warrant for domestic violence. The male was booked at the Santa Rita Jail for the warrant.
Pleasanton police reported that a "grab-and-run" theft had occurred at a mall store and that a group of five teenage-male suspects were heading toward the West Dublin station. Per the station agent, the suspects had boarded a train headed for Castro Valley. One suspect had fare evaded. The train was held at Castro Valley for 13 minutes. BART police detained the teenagers and recovered the stolen property. Two of the suspects were turned over to Pleasanton PD officers, who took them into custody for theft and possession of stolen property.
A suspect struck a female victim, over the head with a glass bottle, after she refused to give him some money. The victim said the suspect was a Black male, approximately thirty one years of age, 5’9, 135 pounds, bald, wearing a tan jacket, and navy blue jeans. The suspect fled the area towards the Walgreen’s Store on Castro Valley Blvd. BART Police responded and performed an area check but met with negative results. The victim suffered a non life threatening injury and was transported by paramedics to Eden Hospital. The victim says she could positively identify the suspect. 1102-0741 L19 UPDATE: 2/6/11 0003 hrs. Alameda County Sheriff's Deputies detained an individual in the City of Castro Valley who matched the description of the assault suspect. BART Officers soon took control of the individual and performed an in-field/hospital identification with the victim. The victim positively identified the suspect as the responsible and he was arrested for the assault. In a subsequent interview, performed by a sergeant, the suspect admitted to assaulting the victim with an alcoholic beverage bottle after being insulted by the victim. The suspect was booked at Santa Rita Jail for the assault; the victim was due to be released from the hospital later in the morning. L22
