Officers attempted to detain a female suspect for fare evasion. The female refused to cooperate, but was detained after a brief struggle. The suspect provided several false names, but was finally identified. The woman was booked at Santa Rita Jail for resisting arrest and providing false information to a peace officer.
The victim was walking through the BART station parking lot toward the station when the victim looked over his shoulder and saw the suspect walking closely behind. The suspect, described as a Black male in his late teens, 5'09", medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt pulled up over his head, a white tank top t-shirt beneath the hoodie, and black Adidas sweat pants with three stripes down the leg, asked the victim why he was looking at him, just before grabbing the victim by the arm. When the victim tried to run, the suspect threw the suspect to the ground. Once on the ground, the suspect punched the victim about the head and face causing minor injuries. As the suspect was punching the victim, he said, "on shred, on shred." The suspect took the victim's black iPhone 5, and walked away. The victim believes "shred" was a reference to a local area gang. The victim declined medical attention and said that he can identify the suspect if seen again. The phone could not be tracked.
A sergeant responded to the station on a report of a disturbance regarding a female throwing water on a male. The sergeant located the female suspect who displayed objective symptoms of intoxication, and was placed under arrest. A records check of the suspect was clear. The victim declined to pursue a complaint for battery, so the suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication.
Officers responded to a report of a fight and one male was injured. Officers arrived, detained two suspects. The victim was transported to a local hospital and the two males were booked at Santa Rita for public intoxication.
Officers responded to a report that a male stabbed another male at the Bayfair Station. The suspect was located and taken into custody. The injured male was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A detective and an ID Tech responded and processed the crime scene.
A victim reported she was pushed to the ground and her cell phone was pulled from her hand by a juvenile male suspect at the Bay Fair Station. Loss was an IPhone 7 Plus. An officer responded to take a robbery report.
Target store security reported that the suspect in a armed robbery had fled toward the station. Witnesses pointed out the suspect to two officers who were on patrol, and the officers detained the female suspect without incident. The suspect was turned over to San Leandro PD for further investigation.
An officer heard a female yelling for help on the platform. Officers responded and learned that a male suspect had deliberately struck two females with bags he was carrying. The suspect was located on the train that was holding, and the victims placed him under citizen's arrest. Record checks showed that the man had two outstanding arrest warrants for narcotics offenses, totaling $40,000 bail, held by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. The man was arrested for battery and for his warrants. However, the man made statements that required he be psychologically evaluated. He was transported by ambulance to John George Pavilion for evaluation and treatment, and will be booked when medically cleared.
A male victim reported that between 2100 and 2130 hours, while walking in the station’s parking lot, he was confronted by four black male suspects. One of the suspects (#1) displayed what appeared to be the handle of a handgun along his front waistband before the victim was struck about the face with an unknown object. The blow caused him to fall to the ground, at which time the suspects took the victim’s black leather wallet and black LG brand cell phone before fleeing; the phone was not trackable. Approximately 20 minutes later, the victim reported the theft to police and an officer responded to investigate. The victim, who was treated for facial pain by paramedics and released, further described the suspects as follows: #1 – 6’4” tall; thin build; in his late 20s; wearing a dark blue windbreaker and carrying a dark bandana/handkerchief; #2 – 6’1” tall; in his 20s; wearing a gray hoodie; #3 - 5’9” tall; 19-20 years of age; wearing a black long sleeve t-shirt; #4 – 5’8” tall; 19-20 years of age; short hair; possibly wearing a gold colored jacket.
A citizen flagged down an officer to report three male suspects burglarizing a car in the lot. The citizen was able to provide a description of the suspects and the vehicle they were driving. A responding officer saw the suspects fleeing in the vehicle they arrived in. He was able to catch up to it and run the license plate. The vehicle had been stolen the day before from Hayward BART. The suspects fled and were not located. A victim vehicle was located in the parking lot. There were no signs of forced entry, but the doors were unlocked and the interior had been ransacked. That vehicle was processed for evidence. Outside agencies were notified of the outstanding stolen vehicle.
The station agent reported that a male had stumbled into the station and was in need of a welfare check. Officers responded and located the man. Record checks showed that the man had an outstanding $20,000 arrest warrant for vandalism and public intoxication, held by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office. The man was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail.
A victim reported their gold colored 1999 Honda Civic was burglarized while parked in stall 1240 of the west lot, between 0800 and 2300 hours. The vehicle was entered by unknown means, and a handicap placard taken. An officer responded, was unable to process the vehicle for fingerprints, and completed a report.
Three suspects grabbed a laptop computer from a patron who was sitting by the entry/exit doors and fled from the train while it was at Bay Fair Station. The victim attempted to retain the property, but the suspects took the property by force. Bystanders attempted to detain one of the suspects, but the suspect was able to flee. Officers responded and located one of the suspects at the Bay Fair Mall, but the other two suspects were not located. The suspect was positively identified by the victim as well as several witnesses and was arrested and booked for robbery. The laptop computer was not recovered. The outstanding suspects are described as #1 black male, 20's, heavyset, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. #2 black male, 20's, no further description.
A 2011 Chevy Silverado which was parked in space #864 between 11:00 on 11/13/16 and 07:15 on 11/14/16 was entered by an unknown suspect via an unknown method. The suspect entered the locked vehicle and removed a combination car stereo / backup camera system and fled with the loss.
A victim was standing in the West parking lot waiting for a ride from the Bay Fair Station. A black older 4 door vehicle approached and the two occupants robbed the victim at gun point. An officer responded to investigate the case.
An officer detained a female suspect for fare evasion and found that she had two outstanding arrest warrants for theft, held by Pleasanton PD and San Bruno PD, totaling $15,000. The woman was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail on her outstanding warrants.
An officer contacted a (female) robbery victim at St. Rose Hospital, Hayward, while she received medical attention for her injured right eye. The victim reported that on 10/26/16, at about 0900 hours, she was confronted by a male and a female in the station’s west parking lot. After questioning the victim about her iPhone 6S, one of the suspects suddenly punched and knocked the victim to the ground. Once on the ground, the victim was kicked about the face before her iPhone was taken by the suspects; who then fled. Later in the day, the victim arrived at the hospital in order to be treated for a swollen right eye. The victim described both suspects as Hispanic and in their mid-20s. Individually, the victim described the suspects as follows: male – 5’11” tall, wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, black knit cap and black Converse shoes; female – 5’5” tall, “chunky,” waist length wavy hair in a pony-tail, wearing a gray top and glasses. The officer requested station video.
A contractor reported the theft of two generators from the construction site at the station. The site was entered by cutting the chain link fence. Both generators were taken sometime between 1500 hours on 10/21 and 0700 hours on 10/24.
