Two adult females, who are neighbors and have been involved in disputes in the past, became involved in a physical confrontation at the Balboa Park Station when victim decided to film the suspect with a camera phone while the subjects were standing on the station platform. The suspect became angry with the victim for filming her and struck the victim on the arm causing the victim's phone to fall to the ground and break. The victim then pepper-sprayed the suspect in self-defense. An officer, who was at the station at the time and heard the commotion, responded and separated the subjects. The suspect was cited and released for the battery and vandalism and a prohibition order was issued.
Officers responded to the station to check on the welfare of an adult male who was reportedly lying on the floor of an East Bay bound train. On awakening the subject, the officers determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself and placed him under arrest for public intoxication. While being escorted to the concourse level of the station, the subject physically resisted the officers, who then overcame the resistance by using physical control holds to quickly subdue him. A sergeant responded to approve the arrest and perform the use of force investigation. The subject was then booked into the county jail for public intoxication.
An officer responded to a report of a person writing graffiti on a train. Upon arrival, a suspect was detained and positively identified by a witness of using a permanent marker to vandalize the interior of the train. The suspect confessed to the crime, and was cited and released for vandalism.
While on patrol, an officer observed and detained a subject for fare evasion. A wants check revealed that the subject had a misdemeanor no bail warrant charging a traffic offense issued from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. The subject was arrested and booked into the SF County Jail for his warrant.
A female victim reported that she was on a train at the station when a male suspect (BM, black hoodie, brown pants) grabbed her cell phone from her hand and fled out of the train and out of the station. The victim gave chase, but was not able to keep up with him. Officers were not able to locate him either. The phone was not able to be tracked. The victim was not injured during the crime. Train and station video will be requested.
A victim reported her $700.00 iPhone 6 was taken while on a Fremont bound train at Balboa Park Station. The suspect off boarded the train at the station and fled in an unknown direction. No suspect description was given.
A BART District van was burglarized while it was parked and locked on Ocean Street near the station between 1100-1300 hours. The front passenger window was smashed and a back pack was taken from inside the vehicle.
A station agent reported a man pulled his pants down and exposed his buttocks in her presence. The suspect was placed under arrest by officers after he was positively identified by the agent. The suspect was issued a 30 day BART prohibition order.
Officers contacted an adult male for fare evasion. A records check revealed the male had a no bail warrant charging second degree burglary held by the Redwood City PD. The male was placed under arrest without incident. The male was issued a citation for fare evasion before being booked into the SF County Jail on the warrant.
Central reported a possible subject who jumped in front of an approaching train on platform 2. Officers and Fire personnel responded, located a male subject, and confirmed the subject was deceased. Trains were allowed to run through on the opposite platform as the officers conducted their investigation. Evidence technicians and the on-call detective were called out to the scene. Based on the initial investigation, it appears that the subject intentionally jumped in front of the train, and that there was no evidence of foul play. Station video was requested for by the detective sergeant but the video did not yield any substantive evidence. Service on the incident platform continues to be disrupted due to anticipated delays in recovering the deceased from the 3rd rail. TSOC was notified (Ref # TSA-03-06844-15). The Trauma Response Team lieutenant was advised of the incident. 1503-3918 L21 UPDATE: The scene was cleared by BART PD personnel and released back to Central as of 1632 hours. Normal operations were resumed as of 1658 hours. TSOC was additionally updated.
A male victim called to make a phone report that he had been robbed of his cell phone while on the platform of the station. He reported that two Black males punched him and took his cell phone from his hands but he fought back and was able to get it back before they both fled the station. He stated that he has a swollen ear as a result of the attack, but would seek his own medical attention in the morning.
A male victim reported that he was robbed of his backpack while at the station on 2/28 between 2145-2215 hours. He said he was exiting the station on the Ocean Avenue side when three male suspects approached him (1 A/M, 30's, 5'5", dark clothing and 2 B/Ms, 18-25, unshaven). The Asian male produced a handgun and demanded the victim's backpack, which contained his wallet and prescription medication (Norco, Soma and Xanax). He did not immediately report the crime because he was in a hurry to get somewhere. The victim was not injured. Station video will be requested.
A victim reported his $120.00 blue Magna Outreach men’s 21 speed bicycle was stolen while it was cable locked at the bike racks between 1130-1900 hours.
Officers detained a male suspect for fare evasion. Record checks showed that the man had an outstanding $10,000 arrest warrant for probation violation, held by the Placer County Sheriff's Office. The man was arrested for his warrant. He was cited for fare evasion and booked at the San Francisco County Jail on his warrant.
An officer contacted an adult male for fare evasion and discovered that he had a $2500 warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia for his arrest. The male was cited for fare evasion and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for the warrant.
A patron reported by phone that their unknown make/model 12-speed road bike was stolen from the racks inside the station between 0945-1600 hours. The victim secured the bike with a cable lock.
A victim reported that they locked their bicycle (a black Thruster 720) to the bike racks at 1030 hours. The bicycle was secured with a cable lock. The victim returned at 1130 hours to find their bicycle gone. The estimated value of the bike is $20. An officer took the report.
While on patrol, an officer observed and detained a subject for fare evasion. A wants check revealed that the subject was in violation of his sex registrant status. The subject was arrested and booked into the SF County Jail for violating his sex registrant status.
A victim reported the theft of their red/white/grey 24 speed mountain bike (unknown brand/model or serial numbers) while it was parked/locked with a cable lock to the interior bike racks of the Balboa Park Station, between 0610-1850 hours. The victim estimated his loss at $700.00. An officer responded and completed a report.
A patron reported via cell phone application that a person on the Daly City bound train was acting strangely. The man was talking loudly to himself and acting as if he was mentally unstable or under the influence of narcotics. The man was described as a white male, about 35 years old, wearing a gray shirt and carrying a large toy stuffed dog. The man mumbled something to the effect that there was a bomb inside his toy dog. The reporting party exited the train at Embarcadero Station. Officers intercepted the train at Balboa Park Station, but the man was not on the train. Patrons reported that he got off the train at either Montgomery or Powell Street Station. Officers checked both stations, but did not locate the man. TSOC notified.
A victim reported a male pulled out his penis and began masturbating at the Balboa Park Station. Officer arrived on-scene and contacted a male that match the description. The victim positively identified the male and placed him under citizen's arrest. A sergeant responded to approve the arrest. The male was booked at the San Francisco County Jail.
A victim reported his $400 black Bianchi 15 speed men’s road bicycle was stolen while it was cable locked at the bike racks between 1140-1850 hours.
A victim reported that he was attacked with a knife at the Balboa Park Station. The victim stated he was attempting to charging his cell phone at the top of the stairs, but two males were already using the outlets. An argument started over the use of the outlets. The juvenile suspect produced a knife and cut the victim’s hand and stabbed him in the chest. As the juvenile stabbed the victim, the adult suspect took a small suitcase from the victim. SFPD officers were in the area and detained the suspects. The victim was able to identify the juvenile by sight and identified the adult by his clothing. The adult suspect also had blood on his shirt. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening wounds. A detective and a evidence tech were called to the scene. Officers are searching the area to locate the knife that was used. Case is under investigation and all notifications were made. Both suspects were issued prohibition orders. The juvenile was booked at the SF Youth Guidance Center and the adult was booked at the San Francisco County Jail.
Officers detained a male subject for fare evasion. During the detention the subject attempted to run away from the officers, who then physically subdued him. The subject was placed under arrest for resisting arrest, and a subsequent search of his person revealed he was in possession of a small amount of Marijuana. A sergeant responded to approve the arrest, debrief the subject and perform the use of force investigation. No injuries were sustained by the officers or the subject. However, as a precaution due to his age (17 years), the subject was medically cleared before being issued a citation for the listed crimes and released to his mother.
A victim reported that they locked their bicycle (a white Specialized Rock hopper mountain bike) to the bike racks today at 0600 hours. The bicycle was secured with cable lock. The victim returned at 0945 hours to find their bicycle gone.
