BPD officers assisted with two reported incidents of fire/smoke at the 24th and Civic Center Stations. The incidents were reported at 0508 hours and 0723 hours respectively. There was no evidence of foul play or criminal activity associated with either incident. There were no reports of injuries during either incident. BPD assisted with station closure, security, and scene management. The incidents resulted in system wide delays. 1803-1159/
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious male on the platform. Officers detained the man (Daniel CARTER, 40, Emeryville) and discovered he was on probation and had a stay-away order from all BART stations. Carter was arrested and booked at Glenn Dyer Jail.
A female patron reported that an unknown male suspect who was standing on the platform, reached through an open train door and hit her on the head with a hard object. Witnesses described the suspect as a black male in dark clothing. The victim declined medical assistance. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect in the area.
Officers detained a male (Aymen MAGALEH, 20, Oakland) for fare evasion. Record checks showed that Magaleh had multiple prior contacts for the same violation, as well as stay-away orders from many BART stations. Magaleh was ultimately booked at Glenn Dyer Jail for misdemeanor fare evasion and probation violation.
Officers contacted a male (Richard Stuart, 54 years, Capitola) for smoking on the platform. He was found to have three warrants totaling $22,500 for public nuisance offenses. He was booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail for the warrants.
Officers detained an adult female (Danica Benson, 37 years, Oakland) for fare evasion and discovered that she had a valid court order to stay away from all BART stations. She was cited for fare evasion and booked into the Santa Rita Jail for violating the court order.
Jerome Hay (50 years old, San Francisco) was observed masturbating on the platform at the 12th Street Station. Hay, who was under the influence of drugs, was placed arrested for the offense. Hay, who was in possession of a pipe used to ingest drugs, briefly resisted the arresting officer. Hay was issued a Prohibition Order and arrested for performing a lewd act in public, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, a probation violation and being under the influence of drugs. Hay was booked at the Santa Rita Jail.
A male suspect tried to grab the backpack of a female victim. The victim was able to keep her backpack and other citizens were able to detain the suspect until officers arrived. The suspect was determined to be in need of psychiatric evaluation, so he was transported for evaluation with a criminal hold for attempted robbery. He will be booked once he is cleared.
Daniel Carter (29 years old, Emeryville) was detained for fare evasion at the 12th Street Station. Carter was arrested, for a $25,000 misdemeanor warrant, and booked at the Glenn Dyer Jail.
Numerous passengers reported a male suspect trying to take a phone from a female victim and an ensuing physical struggle for the phone. The victim was able to retain possession of the phone and the suspect was later determined to have fled on a train. He was subsequently detained at the West Oakland Station. The victim responded and identified him as the person who tried to take her phone. The suspect (Anthony Layton, 19 years old, Vacaville) was issued a prohibition order before being booked into the Santa Rita Jail for an outstanding $10,000 theft warrant and for attempted robbery. The victim was not injured during the crime. Another male (Ezekiel Addison, 19 years old, San Francisco) who was originally detained, but physically resisted the detention, was not identified by the victim as being involved in the robbery, but he was booked into the Glenn Dyer Jail for resisting/delaying an officer.
