A male suspect detained for fare evasion by an officer physically resisted the detention. The officer used force to attempt to detain the suspect, who was eventually placed into handcuffs with the assistance of several San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies. A short time later, a warrants check of the suspect revealed an outstanding $100K felony vandalism warrant for his arrest. The suspect was then booked into the county jail for resisting arrest and the outstanding warrant. A sergeant responded to perform the use of force investigation and approve the arrest.
