Auto Burglary Arrest

Officers were flagged down by a victim who reported a person was attempting to break into her vehicle in parking lot B. Upon arrival, the officers detained a person matching the description given and placed him under arrest after being positively identified by the victim. A shaved key used to enter vehicles was found next to the suspect. The suspect later tried to strangle himself with a shoe lace after being given a drink of water. Detectives arrived to interview the suspect, who later stated that he had lost consciousness and wanted to kill himself. The suspect was transported to Eden Hospital, and then to John George Psychiatric Facility for a psychiatric evaluation. After clearance from the facility, the suspect will be booked for attempt auto burglary, possession of burglary tools, and probation revocation.A sergeant arrived at the scene to approve the arrest.
