El Cerrito del Norte
Case: 1611-0834

While detaining a female suspect for reportedly creating a disturbance at the station, a sergeant and an officer determined she was a danger to herself and called for an ambulance. While waiting for the ambulance, however, the suspect attempted to flee so the sergeant and officer used physical force in an attempt to restrain her. Before being fully restrained, the suspect managed to batter both the sergeant and officer. Paramedics eventually arrived and transported the suspect to the county’s mental health facility. When cleared by the facility, the suspect will be booked into the county jail for resisting arrest and battering police officers. The sergeant and officer sustained minor injuries while struggling with the suspect, and for which paramedics provided them with first aid.
