Tampering with Fire Equipment/Vandalism/Resisting Arrest/Failure to Register/Parole Violation

Case: 1710-1611

A male (Michael SAWYER, 53, Castro Valley) tampered with the sprinkler head in the station restroom, causing the sprinkler to activate. Responding officers contacted Sawyer, who behaved erratically and resisted being detained. Sawyer was taken into custody after a struggle. One officer was injured. Sawyer was transported to Washington Hospital for psychological evaluation, with a criminal hold for tampering with fire equipment, vandalism, resisting arrest, failure to register as a sex offender, parole violation, and possession narcotics paraphernalia.

There must be a way to keep these nut cases away from BART or other public transportation. This Sawyer guy sounds like a real "winner." .... NOT!
