Outside Assist/Theft from Person/Resisting Arrest/Battery on Officer

Officers saw two males running from the Westfield Mall into the station, with security officers in pursuit. Officers followed the males to the platform and detained them for investigation. One male surrendered without incident, but the other attempted to escape by charging an officer. That male was taken into custody, but the officer suffered a cut to his upper lip requiring stitches. Officers later learned that the two suspect had stolen a purse from a victim in the mall food court. The case was turned over to SFPD. The two men were arrested for conspiracy, theft from a person, resisting arrest, and battery on an officer with injury.
