Public Intoxication

June 6, 2013, 7:38 a.m.

16th St. Mission
Case: 1306-0790

An anonymous person called to report a male on board the train with a machete.  When questioned by the dispatcher, the reporting party said the male was holding the machete above his head and threatening people on the train.  No other calls were received, but the train was held at the 16th/Mission Street Station and SFPD was notified.  SFPD officers arrived at the station and contacted a male on the train matching the description.  The male was in possession of a large knife in a sheath, but was not creating a disturbance.  SFPD Officers said that no one on the train was willing to make a complaint or said that he was creating a disturbance.  BART officers took custody of the detained male and determined that he was intoxicated in public.  The knife was taken for safekeeping and the male was booked into the San Francisco County Jail for public intoxication.  Train car video has been requested.  The original reporting party's phone number is answered by a fax machine, so he was unable to be reached.  The train was held for approximately 13 minutes.  TSOC was notified.
