Possession of Stolen Property/Grand Theft/Outside Assist Arrest

Aug. 19, 2013, 12:23 p.m.

South San Francisco
Case: 1308-2910

A sergeant and CSO were on the street level above the Montgomery Station when they were flagged down by a male subject who pointed to a female subject who reportedly just stole his female companion’s Iphone 5 while they were inside the Westfield Shopping Mall.  The sergeant detained the subject in question.  During the course of the investigation, the sergeant discovered that the suspect was in possession of identification cards and credit cards in another person’s name.  SFPD responded and sent units to the residence listed on the identification card and contacted a victim who verified that her purse (containing her identification and credit cards) was stolen earlier that morning. The Iphone was never recovered and the original female victim from the shopping mall and her male companion stated they did not wish to pursue a complaint against the suspect for the Iphone theft.  SFPD officers took custody of the suspect for possession of stolen property.
