Case: 1112-2865

A male suspect attempted to sell a "Street Sheet" newspaper to a female patron on board a train at El Cerrito del Norte Station.  When the woman refused, the male became enraged and followed the woman around the train screaming insults, racial slurs and threats at her.  A male patron attempted to intervene and was also threatened.  Both victims were fearful for their safety because of the suspect's behavior.  The train was held at Plaza Station and responding officers were able to detain the male a short distance away from the station.  The male resisted being detained for investigation.  The victim and witness positively identified the suspect and he was arrested for criminal threats and resisting arrest.  He was booked at Martinez Jail.  Trains were delayed about ten minutes as a result of this incident.
