Jan. 5, 2016, 3:06 p.m.

Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre
Case: 1601-0779

Officers detained a male suspect for fare evasion. During the detention, the suspect refused to cooperate with lawful commands to the point where the officers used physical force to attempt to place him in handcuffs. The suspect, however, physically resisted their efforts and a struggle ensued. A segeant responded during this time and assisted in placing the suspect into handcuffs. Shortly after being handcuffed, the suspect further resisted officers’ efforts to place him in the rear of a patrol car. Paramedics eventually arrived at the station and treated the suspect, who claimed he was injured but who then declined further medical attention. Subsequently, the suspect was booked into the county jail for resisting arrest and issued a citation for fare evasion. A lieutenant responded to perform the use of force investigation. Two of the involved officers sustained minor injuries as result of this incident.
