False Report of a Bomb/Interfere/Delay Railroad Operation

March 17, 2017, 9:22 a.m.

Civic Center/UN Plaza
Case: 1703-1109

An adult male suspect entered the station and stated to the reporting party (R/P), that he had planted two bombs inside the station and everybody should get out, before quickly walking away. The R/P felt the suspect, and the statement made, was very suspicious and reported it to the station agent. As a precaution, the station was evacuated for approximately one hour as BART PD and SFPD explosive detection K-9’s swept the station. No suspicious devices were located and the station was reopened. A short time later, SFPD officers detained the suspect, who matched the description initially provided by the R/P, near the station. The R/P and another witness positively identified the suspect. The suspect was placed under arrest on the above listed charges and booked into the SF County Jail. TSOC was notified and station video was requested.
