Castro Valley
Case: 1202-2442

A patron reported two males cutting locks off bikes locked to the bike racks at the station.  The two suspects fled with two bikes and were detained by responding officers near the station.  The witness positively identified both suspects as the people he had seen cutting locks.  Evidence at the scene connected the suspects to the theft.  One victim was later located and confirmed that the bike had been stolen from the station.  One of the suspects was on parole and had tools on his person that matched the lock found cut by the bike racks.  Both suspects had prior convictions for theft.  The on-call detective responded to interview the suspects and take over the investigation.  Both suspects were booked at Santa Rita Jail for petty theft with prior convictions.
